10 dollar pdf, not so sure on that.
25 dollar printed item sounds like a good deal.

The book is 400 pages which means quite a print out. Nice enough art, but this is a space wasting item with under used pages that could have been done in 300 pages. Most of the pages look digest sized. I'm guess there, I don't know the current size as I type. I printed it out on the usual 8.5 x 11, and it comes out looking very easy to read, but the text fills little more than half the page on most pages. Lost of margin for notes I suppose.

I think the design earned the awards. It's unique. I liked it enough to print it out eh.
I might treat myself to the print out in the new year.
Any book I 'want' to play, I want to have a decent copy of.
But it is unlikely a hardcover copy is going to be magically better. Other than being hardcover and standing up on a shelf properly (spiral bindings don't stand up at all.

Anyone considering this purchase needs to seriously take a look at Maze World. Its Dungeon World 1.1 with a cleaner presentation. There are some changes but the item description clearly points them out.
PDF is $5
Softcover is $25

The Immolator and Barbarian classes are available in the play kit download on the Dungeon World website, here:
http://dungeon.world/#downloads

You can also find them detailed on the Web here:
Barbarian - http://www.book.dwgazetteer.com/barbarian.html
Immolator - http://www.book.dwgazetteer.com/immolator.html

The Barbarian is in the unofficial Minimalist Dungeon World Playbooks, but not the Immolator:

To be correct: the "color" versions seem lacking a TOC, the bw has one.

Really wish they would setup a print on demand hardback book version that is a little more travel friendly (paperbacks are not very durable long term especially if you are carrying them round

You can buy a hardcover copy directly from the author’s website. I think here on DTRPG they only have the PDF version.

Also, if you could add an empty page after the title page, the even and odd pages would properly match up in, say, Google Play Books.

The book is organized differently than most other fantasy rule books I've read. For example, want to learn how to award XP? Look under "Special moves / End of Session". Also, another one of these "it's not the GM's job to balance encounter difficulty" systems. AKA "We're too lazy to create a basic set of guidelines for encounter balance to help new game masters". Want to read about character races? Look under classes. It's one of those things where, once you know where stuff is, it's fine, but the first time reading through they make you hunt around for stuff. I guess the argument could be made that if you read the entire book through, you would eventually find this stuff, but that's not how most people read rpg rule books. Most people I know initially pick through them to see if they like how combat works, or something of that nature. IDK, I guess DW is being presented as a "system", that's different than traditional rpgs. I still think they should have tried...See more

One other thing I didn't like is that the game is basically scaled for 10 levels, and this can move pretty fast, considering you get 1XP for rolling 6 or less at any time. After level 10 you get some pretty non-traditional choices for advancement. You can "take an apprentice", which means you basically start over at level 1 playing the side kick of your original character (playing Robin for your original Batman). Taking a new class, which is basically starting over with some perks. Retiring. I mean, these are pretty powerful options, but consider now you are a level 1 character with essentially a level 10 bodyguard. Not sure how that would work.

Just a big thank you for providing this content in epub and mobi files. There's nothing quite as frustrating as navigating a 2-column PDF document on a phone or small tablet.

Can't comment on game yet ... But it's been a good read so far. I'm looking for rules lite fantasy for some friends with kids to enjoy the true excitement of Dungeon delving. Hopefully this will work well.

Just played my first ever session as a GM with a group that had never played an RPG before (myself included) and we all loved it, it's the day after and the entire group are already asking me when out next session will be! Dungeon world is a fantastic system which is eases you into RPG mechanics at low levels and I'm already looking forward to adding more levels of complexity to our game.

Is there ever going to be a Print on Demand option? Burning Wheel, which is supposed to handle the print copies, is out of stock.

I'm considering buying this book only to get its settlement building system to use in D&D 5th Ed.
Can anyone tell me whether it'd be a lot of work to convert it over?

You could use the steading rules as-is for nearly any "Gygaxian fantasy" or similar dungeon fantasy game. They cut to the chase by defining the steadings in fiction-rich elements instead of crunch.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
