Cult of the Iron Mask

A Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e mini-adventure site for 4–6 Characters Levels 3-4

In the darkness of the middle ages the rights of women folk are often left unguarded by chivalry as men give in to lust, jealousy, or the intricacies of arranged marriages made to foster alliances and cement political power. The Cult of the Iron Mask is a direct reaction of women folk of a distant land against the tyranny of wicked men. A secret, militant society of women folk. Who seek vengeance against those who break the vows of chivalry, abusing the sanctity and innocence of womanhood. While also offering safe sanctuary, and a new life to those seeking to flee unjust treatment at the hands of mans lust.
The average follower maintains a secret pact with the cult, watching society as innocent helpless women. Looking on from the windows of peasant hovels, or listening in from the kitchens of merchant lords.
While acolytes of the Iron Mask - normally women folk who have fled terrible husbands or oppressive slave masters - reside in a secret underground monastery. From where, the cult coordinates contacts with women sympathetic to their cause, or under the guise of the dreaded “Women of the Iron Mask,” launch raids to free the oppressed and punish the wickedness of men.
Module Recommended for...
This Compass Point is recommended for a party of player characters (4 to 6 players, character levels 4 to 5), skilled at gaining entry into strongly defended positions. The lair will prove to be a challenge to a group that is methodical, with careful planning. While a group that is used to charging forwards with swords swinging, may result in a bloody mess of severed limbs!
The greatest hazard contained in this Compass Point, is a well-organized militant band of women fighters (level 3 fighter/rogues). The cultists maintain a vigilant watch and will almost certainly react with hostility towards any intruders, especially men!
Added to this are two easily detectable but difficult to avoid traps, and the cult leadership that consists of two high level NPCs (level 6 fighter and level 6 wizard). A party that is detected by the cultists could easily turn the situation into a miniature siege, requiring the players to work out how to wear down the contained cult. While defending themselves from any attempt by the cultists to break the siege.
Recommended Party: 4-6 PCs of level 4-5
Overall Location Type: Dungeon.
Estimated Time: 2-4 Hours.
Emphasis: Combat, covert exploration.
Encounters: 4 to 6 CR3 NPCs, plus 2 CR6 NPCs.
Compass Points
Compass Points are a new concept from Studio WyldFurr; the creation of small adventure locations or compass points that the Game Master can simply drag'n'drop into their campaign for a little added spice during an adventure. Each Compass Point package contains all of the maps and tokens the game Master will need, plus a PDF that acts as a plot guide for the miniature adventure. But the plot is not set in stone, we recommend that Game Masters adjust the plot to fit their own campaign.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
