Heroes of Hellas is a Roleplaying game set in the mythical Greek heroic age with  an updated dark and gritty feel.

This is a supplement for the Barbarians of Lemuria Legendary rule system.

This PDF has fully navigatable Bookmarks.

The Heroic Age is a time of Heroes and Kings, of ancient science and dark magic. Once again mortals have gained a foothold in the wilderness. City strongholds are refuges of civilization, and the seat of power for grasping kings. They rule through brutality and bloodshed. Evil sorcerers conjure dark powers to bend the will of man and beast. Alchemists manipulate the elements to create amazing machines, deadly weapons and twisted monsters. Implacable horrors stalk the wilderness and the depths of the seas. Barbarians plot to ransack cities.

A few mortals have risen above the rabble to achieve feats beyond mortality. Once again the Gods have taken notice of humans. Some receive favor from the Gods, through reckless devotion. Others are punished for their hubris. Even fewer become immortal heroes that challenge the Gods…

I'm really tired of seeing previews that do a lousy job of showing off the product, so I make a point of posting about it to raise awareness of the problem among publishers in the hopes that they'll learn better practices. The purpose of a preview is to help sell the product. If you can't make one that does that, you're either incompetent or lazy. This one is far from being the worst I've ever seen, but it could be a lot better. In a 10-page preview, we have:

- 1 cover page
- 1 blank page
- 1 title page
- 1 credits page
- 1 page of Author's Notes
- 2-page Table of Contents
- 1½ pages of introductory text
- 1½ pages of illustrations

Depending on whether you count the ToC and illustrations as "actual content", that's somewhere between 40% and 75% of the preview which is worthless in showing off the product.

No kidding, I have this problem with 95% of the products for sale on this site. No way to get a feel for what's in a game when all I see is copyright info, a cover, and a TOC, if I'm lucky I might get an intro "what is a roleplaying game?" Useless.

Could the Mythic Edition please be closer to a stand-alone product (having the important rules of BoL: ME) as opposed to a supplement?

To what degree is that supplement compatible with BoL: Mythic Edition?

You should note that this is not to be confused with the game HELLAS: Worlds of Sun and Stone (Khepera Publishing) which is offered on DriveThruRPG as well.

Is this the d6 system from West End Games and early Star Wars?

No. It's for the system used in Barbarians of Lemuria as set out in the blurb.

No, the dice system is a ripoff of Traveller.

Sorry for the problems with the print version. It was a printer issue that has been resolved. I ordered a copy and everything is fixed now.

As for the compatibility with ipad. With a PDf reader app the book will work as intended. I am in the process of releasing the book in a EPUB version. That will be included with a pdf purchase. It wil also be available to previous customers.

This is a great RPG but the PDF has some issues and the print version has serious problems. Many of the images don't display on an iPad. The print version shows black boxes around art, art in front of text, and some art not printing at all. Is there any chance these matters will be fixed?

Also, the resolution of the back cover is so poor that the writing is illegible.

I had the same problem and did contact DriveThru Support. Personally I'm quite happy with the pdf version but I had a lot of issues with the print copy. I have also contacted the author and I am hoping that these issues can be resolved quickly. I really like Heroes of Hellas and I want to see this available in pdf and hardcopy again ASAP.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
