ADD TO WISHLIST >

Today Stoneworker Cartography enters a new realm!  Welcome to Battle Maps MODERN, a new product line of 1"=5' miniature battle maps set in the modern era.  These maps are perfect for d20 Modern games, CHILL games, or any game system or setting based in modern times.  For that matter, they may be useful in any game set during a zombie apocalypse or a modern day military invasion scenario.  Aliens arriving in your sci-fi campaign?  This map line may be ideal for you!

In most cases Battle Maps Modern maps will be set somewhere in North America, however future battle maps may feature other real world locations set in the Far East, Middle East, Europe, and other parts of the world.

Battle Maps MODERN:  The El Rey Motel is a modern motel located somewhere in southern California, Arizona, or New Mexico.  It features 37 motel units, a lobby and offices, a pool for the guests, plenty of parking, and vehicles ranging from modern day pick up trucks such as the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 to hot cars like the Chevy Camaro and a Lamborghini Gallardo.  The El Rey is filled with places to hide or search, and has plenty of open space for battles.

Features:

  • 80" x 50" in size.  That's almost roughly a 7' by 4' battle map!
  • HEX and SQUARE grids for each type of map listed below.  Each one is sized to be 1" = 5' of gaming space.  In addition, there is a NO GRID file of both the full color and black and white versions.
  • Full Color Version – This is a printer intensive, full color version of this map.
  • Black and White version – A black and white version, meant to be the least printer intensive.
  • Included VTT version with a square grid for those that prefer to game using Virtual Table Top systems.

If you download the files individually from the product page everything is correct, its the zip files with wrong files. I had to do this for a lot of the Modern series and the apocalypse series.

This map is beautiful but its so darn huge. I love your maps but my table is too small and my printer too poor. Just scaled down a smidge would make them more useful. I have a large dining room table but that's really wide. That being said, they are definitely the best value for your buck on the site. The quality and usefulness is also very high.

I know exactly what you mean, John. I think if you use the VTT map as a guide, you can figure out which parts of these maps you might want to use and only print out, say, 6 or 8 pages of it, instead of the entire thing. Doing it that way you can use each map multiple times according to what you need and your players may never know it all came from the same file. Thank you for your feedback...sorry they are so big!

I'm sorry Joe. That's very weird because I uploaded these files a good 5 days before the Apocalypse version was ever even created, so I am not sure what's happened. Let me look into it.

I bought this today, but the map pdfs are the Apocalypse version, not the regular Modern. The VTT image is correct though.

Thank you for letting me know, Joseph. I've found the problem (file names were the same when I uploaded the Apocalypse version, so they over wrote the Modern versions) and I've fixed the issue. You should be able to download the modern version now. Look at it this way, you and the others that have purchased this map have both versions for the price of one now!

Hi Lanndon,

I just re-downloaded and I'm still getting the apocalypse version of the pdf maps. Thanks for looking into it so quickly though. No worries, I'm sure the weirdness will get sorted out. :)

Well it was all my fault. It should be okay now, but if not, let me know so I can email the tech department. I've done all I can on my end, sadly. I just have to pay attention to file names a little closer in the future. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
