I hate the Mystic Adept errata. They were overpowered as written but the errata is the same as the "hot fix" which got tons of complaints as going too far. Mystic Adepts are now back to something I will never play (except in very specific games or possibly a very specific concept).

It's good that they released a bunch of errata but 3 pages doesn't even touch the amount of errata needed for SR5. Off the top of my head:
* Is Astral Initiative +2d6 (chart at back of book) or +3d6 (text in astral section)?
* Is Assensing Astral Signatures really Magic+Assensing(3) when Assensing is uaully Intuition+Assensing?
* Lots of missing references (ex grenade section has no link whatsoever to the defense against AOE attacks entry - it just lists damage)
* Does AOE defense work like normal defense (if you beat the net hits, it does 0 damage - seems very wonky for AOE) or does it stage damage down (before body+armor) or something else?
* etc, etc, etc

Three pages of errata? Really? Why do these companies hire proofreaders and editors for? Sure am glad I paid $60.00 for a brand new book full of mistakes! If anybody from Catalyst reads this, email me and arrange to give me my money back! F-ing ridiculous that in 2014 get mistakes in a $60.00 book! Guess what? My $20.00 OSR books don't have any errata! Oh wait! I also bought $60 Numenara hardcover! Can't wait to see the errata for that book!

Butthurt much? Me, I don't get why they have an errata sheet for a digital product, why not just alter the masters and upload the new edition?

Because it doesn't exist as *only* a digital product?

And really, William, I'm surprised to see anyone complain when Cat actually puts out errata.

I like that they made the errata. I don't like that there needed to be errata in the first place. Why didn't they proof read? Most of this stuff is pretty obvious.

So they should do both. Correct the electronic file for those who have it, so I don't have to constantly check between two different sources, and provide the independent errata file for people with physical books.

Yeah, I'd agree. I'm grateful there is errata and would welcome it if the main pdf was updated, as well. More (and better) errata would be very welcome though!
We've already houseruled the mystic adept errata, since it went overboard.

This might come as a surprise to many who live in this digital age, but back in my day there was such a thing as HUMAN ERROR. You might have to google it. Young'ins these days. Back in my day, we didn't have erratas, and we walked 20 miles to the nearest comic book store to buy these hard hardcover books as is, errors and all, UPHILL BOTH WAYS. THROUGH THE SNOW. AND WE LIKED IT.

29 is too young to feel old at.

It's not just human error. I'd wager most people aren't peeved that there is errata (I've yet to see a single game system/edition that doesn't have it). People are mad that most of the stuff was just so glaringly obvious in the first printing you have to wonder how no one caught it before going to press.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
