Werewolf: the Forsaken 2nd Edition

The need to hunt burns in your heart and in your soul. To chase down prey with your blood pumping fire through your body. Yesterday you didn’t know what that felt like, but today you’re sitting in a room with the bodies of your family and you need to hunt.

You are a human, a wolf, a killer, a monster. The ultimate predator.

You must hold the balance between the moon and the wolf. Between the flesh and the spirit. Between the pack and the prey. Your blood rises. The wolf must hunt.

What are you going to do?

You are a hunter now, one of the Uratha who inherit the blessings of Moon and Wolf. You conduct your sacred hunts in the shadows of the ordinary world, trying to maintain the boundaries. Driven by the need to hunt, you must keep the forces that would sway you in harmony rather than giving in to your instincts.

But the hunt isn’t easy. Your werewolves think they can hunt any prey, but they now face the return of the idigam — incomprehensible spirits of things that never existed, imprisoned at the dawn of time. Now they’re back, and they want to kill their jailers.

They hate you, and they’re coming for you. Time to show them that your senses — and your teeth — are as sharp as ever.

This book contains:

  • The complete guide to playing a werewolf in the World of Darkness.
  • Reimagined tribes, auspices, and spirit magic to create the ultimate predator and her pack.
  • A brand new look at werewolf hunting grounds around the world, from Basra to Tokyo.
  • Rules for the werewolves’ prey, and five examples of the idigam.
Note on the Print Editions: Standard Color uses a thinner paper stock than Premium Color, basically the same paper as the Black & White books. This usually means the colors are less vivid, but it also means the price drops a bit per page in the production process. Examples of pages: Premium Color vs. Standard Color.

Also available for Werewolf: the Forsaken 2nd Edition:

The Idigam Chronicle Anthology contains 11 short stories of bestial violence and supernatural terror, in celebration of the second edition of Werewolf: The Forsaken.

I am hoping that Onyx Path will do a kickstarter someday to do a deluxe retail release of this book (along with Vampire the Requiem and Mage the Awakening 2nd editions) so we can have an awesome version of this game to match all the games released since Demon the Descent.

Please, next time, hire better editors and do less design by committee (because this really seems to suffer from that). Workshop one or two authors, working together, with ruthless (and pricey if need be) editing for a superior product. This one is serviceable, but annoyingly sloppy.

Just gotta say that that standard color price is high. Demon the Descent is 80 pages bigger and 30 dollars cheaper for the equivalent quality production.

The single greatest TTRPG I've ever had the pleasure to run in 30 years. It is Onyx Path's masterpiece.

Can we have an update about the Wolf Gifts experience cost? Pages 84 and 85 contradict each other.

Hi! I have a question: how much does the premium hardcover book weights? I need to take a flight with it so I have a hard weight limit.

I own the first edition, in order to play it I also needed the world of darkness book. Do I need the chronicles of darkness to run this edition?

No, unlike 1st edition, you have all the rules you need in the core book.

And the trade off is you get way less lore in the 2nd edition book for the implementation of the rules.

I purchased the Standard Hardcover version of this and, I love it. Its probably one of the prized jewels of my RPG collection. I can't recommend it enough!

Hello,

I published a review of Werewolf the Forsaken 2e in Knights of the Dinner Table magazine; and got to republish that review on my blog here: https://withinthedungeon.blogspot.com/2017/09/rpg-review-werewolf-forsaken-2nd-edition.html

Admittedly, this product wasn't my cup of coffee, but overall I was impressed with this products quality and features... or what OPP has done with the line. It's certainly an improvement and a good build on what WoD had established. (my opinion)

What's the difference between the premium and the standard editions? I'm asking because I can't really tell from the example pictures that there are links to. Please help me.

Why has the cover changed for this edition? The first edition cover was almost infinitely better, and they didn't change the covers for any of the other second editions. So what gives?

Does anyone know if this is going to get a Standard Heavyweight option?

Is there anyone that could answer my previous question? I am new to the site and not sure how this works. Some clarification would certainly be appreciated. The question was if I purchase the pdf now and decide I want the physical copy, will I get the discount on the POD price of this product?

No, the discount only applies when buying both at the same time using that option

If I purchase the pdf and later decide I want to purchase the POD copy, will I still get a discount?

Since this book will most likely be updated under the new 'Chronicles of Darkness' brand at some point. I think it wouldn't be too hard to clean up the text over picture from the page 109 layout.

Also a premium color softcover option would a nice POD addition.

Is this one compatible with god-machine? At first I was just assuming is was, but then i realized it doesn't say it like Vampire 2nd Ed. does.

If you are familiar with God Machine, then you are mostly familiar with this system. Forsaken rides on top of the mechanics from God Machine, rather then replacing them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
