Description:

The Headlamp of Doom

Legend speaks of a grotesque, monstrous miner stalking the frozen wastes of Alaska, seeking the precious gold which slowly drove him insane. Most people just chuckle and shake their heads. But when the grand opening of the mining museum in White Landing, Alaska is crashed by a hulking figure in a glowing headlamp, folks quickly change their tune. As the bodies start to pile up and fear settles in upon the small, remote hunting town, the truth becomes unavoidable - Stalker Jack is back, and he's after something. If the characters can't unravel the mystery of the Caribou Mining Company, the strange yellow powder and the rapidly expiring mine heirs, they'll wish for more than just a pocket handwarmer and a hot chocolate. This "legend" has a pick-axe to grind and he won't rest until he's done.

What's Inside

Stalker Jack is a complete adventure for Horror Rules, the Simply Horrible RPG, a horror comedy game of ridiculous proportions. This 34pg supplement is packed with everything you need to play, including Bad Guys, Cast, backstory, artwork, maps, Plot Pushers and enough Sequel Suggestions and Plot Twists to turn it into five adventures instead of one!

This was a hoot to run at my local game convention just a few days before Halloween. The players really got into it, even though their characters all ended up dead. This script has all the extra twists and variations that are included with products [...]

Not so much a full adventure in itself as the bare bones of one. It comes with a series of characters, major plot events and (my personal favourite) a selection of possible plot twists you can introduce to try and throw those clever players. [...]

The plot is not actually as jokey as the authors make it out to be. The suggestions for using the Headlamp of Doom are good ones, as are the sequels. The Inuit village is a screaming cliche and honestly drags down my enjoyment of this product. Q [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
