Fantasy Firearms

The gun is one of the most fascinating weapons in the history of mankind. It a weapon that is both glorified and vilified in art and literature. And it is a weapon that is conspicuous by its absence in the D20 rules.

Some players feel that guns would be overpowering in a fantasy world. But in a fantasy setting, primitive guns are less powerful and less reliable than their modern counter-parts, and healing magic is abundant. The odds are good, however, that you're reading this because you are interested in using guns in your fantasy game. The approach in this PDF is a little different from the gun rules that are usually presented for a fantasy setting. Guns are not so difficult to use that only those who spend years training can handle one properly. And they are not so expensive that only kings can requisition them. A gun is simple enough for most anyone to use, and rare enough that the average barkeeper can't afford one, but the average adventurer can.

Included in this PDF are:

*Racial attitudes towards Black Powder and Guns.
*Rules for Pistols & Muskets
*Standard & Magical Ammunition
*Variant Black Powder Weapons such as the Kracking Spear & Thunderhammer
*Siege weapons such as Cannon's and the Dragon Ballista
*New Rules, Feats, Spells & Magic Items

Fantasy Firearms is a 10-page PDF for 3.5 OGL Roleplaying written by Eric Karnes and published by Scorched Urf Studios. It brings firearms, of a fantasy nature, to the (gaming) table. If you want to mix firearms with fireballs and pit musketeers [...]

I admit it I like guns. I whipped up all sorts of fantasy guns for one of my campaigns ages ago and was eager to see what folks have done today. I wasn't overwhelemed by this book as it is doesn't present much variety or detail on firearms but it is [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
