The Evoker: The Core Specialist Wizard

Illustrators: Gary Dupuis, Steven Trustrum

Ever think that tacking on specialist wizards to the wizard core class was kinda lame? Ever think that the specialists needed to be written up as their own distinct classes? Yeah, us too.

The Evoker is the seventh offering in The Core Specialist Wizard series. Each product of the series will present a different specialist as its own core, 20-level class, with distinctive abilities. Other related materials, including feats, two prestige classes tied to the core specialist class, and a small offering of related magic items, are also included.

Within The Evoker you'll find:

  • The evoker core class. These specialists wizards are experts at making something from nothing. In fact, existence has a way of ending up in their pockets (literally.)
  • The arcanamest prestige class. These wizards are able to temporarily enchant ordinary items, making them magical items.
  • The elemental troubadour prestige class. Bards that can focus their evocation talent to summon the elements.
  • 9 new feats centered around specialist wizards in general, with a focus on the evoker.
  • 3 new magic items, the force armor, ring of energy, and elemental instrument, and a new special ability for magic weapons, force-charged.

This product includes a landscape version for on-screen viewing and a toner-saving portrait version for printing

This is making an Evoker a core class. It is okay if you want a new core class. I'm happy with things as they are QUALITY: Acceptable VALUE: Satisfied [...]

I have thought of the evoker as a spellcaster who evokes mostly energy. This product improves that and develops the concept of evoking matter as well. The PrCs are a magical-item-on-the-fly creator and a bard/evoker who uses magical music to strengthen [...]

The Evoker: Core Specialist Wizard is the seventh (and final?) in this series that converts the various flavors of specialist wizard into full twenty level core classes. Like all of the series, the presentation is clean and easy to read. The rules [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
