Initiative Cards: 4E

ADD TO WISHLIST >

As with d20 and OGL, Initiative Cards have become a staple of gaming.  Why shouldn’t that be the same with 4E gaming?  Initiative Cards make the task of keeping track of initiative in fantasy combats easy by providing a place for the GMs to record all the information about the player characters and their opponents that the GM needs during play. Initiative Cards are an essential tool for tracking combat and gaming. No longer will you have to remember what the stats, attack or special abilities of a PC in the gaming party, the Initiative Cards have all that information there.  Every GM that plays 4E should be using the Initiative Cards in their local gaming sessions and campaigns.

When it comes to D&D 4E initiative cards are a great idea but these are too cluttered to be very useful. Most of this is information that most DMs will never need to know. With so much on each card it becomes a chore finding the information you nee [...]

I was looking for a card to keep track of initiative and some of the more major stats for the campaign that I'm running. Wizards of the Coast had one in their RPA Section (The Game Mechanics: Initiative Card), but it wasn't 4.0. After a quick search, [...]

It's awfully hard to argue with "free," and I really like quite a few of LPJ Design's products, but I just don't see myself using these cards. In summary, the cards are too big, try to incorporate too many details, and don't match my own need [...]

These are actually some handy little cards, four to a sheet, with room for an abbreviated cheat-sheet the DM can use to track player activity, initiative, and so forth. Much nicer looking than some.....and totally free, so hard to argue with that. If [...]

Initiative cards is a tool for speeding up play, and as such it should present information in a compact, no-nonsense manner. There should be no unnecessary information cluttering up the card; the moment you have to start looking for the information you [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
