O2S Orbit To Surface Delivery System

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Your table top troops need to get from orbit to the surface quickly!  Now they can for a low cost in a disposable Orbit to Surface Gravity Assist Delivery Vehicle!  Troops are held in place with artificial gravity harnesses as the craft only breaks acceleration when needed to guide and safely deliver the goods to the battle front.  Three doors daisy petal out to allow quick deployment.

Paper model comes in colored and plain white for your own markers or paints.  Builds in about 2 to 3 hours.

There is a long and grizzled history of Orbit to Surface delivery systems for troops and supplies in Science Fiction. The most common names for these vehicles in literature are, “Drop Ship,” “Drop Pod,” and “Express Elevator to Hell.” In keeping with military tradition, this model is not names for any regular nomenclature but instead given a numerical designation and abbreviated anagram. The style of the artwork mixes some technological elements that may seem anachronistic to each other. There are high tech gravity harnesses that allow the troops inside to avoid becoming chunky salsa on landing, yet there are chemical reaction control thrusters and tile based ablative heat shields. But this is in keeping with the idea that such a craft is a one-use throw away. It would need some high-tech gadgets but would lower costs with some time tested low-tech and off-the-self parts as well. For shape, it reminds one of old cartoon bombs from World War Two planes… big three fin missiles driven by gravity alone and guided only by their fixed fins. Though this vehicle clearly can steer in space, all guidance is from orbital calculations and once it is in free fall through atmosphere its guidance is limited to minor course corrections. Gravity and airflow doing most of the work after computers have done all the aiming from space.

These graphics are awesome. This is a must have for any SF RPG GM that wants his PCs to go "Oooooooooohhhh!!!" The construction is not too complex if you follow the instructions step by step and it really adds a remarkable addition to [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
