Description:

What would I be, if God wanted me to be something different? I would be whatever God saw fit to make me.

I would be a crow picking at the bones of the dead. I would be a worm nestled in the heart of my enemies.

I would be a faceless angel. I would be a rabid wolf. I would be a broken mirror.

But make no mistake, my children.

Whatever God sees fit for me, one thing will never change. I will always be a monster.

- Solomon Birch

I was really excited when DTR announced PoD. As this is my first order of printed book from them, and pdf version was already reviewed by others I'll concentrate only on print quality and technical aspects of books offered in DTR PoD. 1) Cover is amazi [...]

This reminds me very clearly of the first edition book ‘Unearthed Arcana’ and effectively it does many of the same things – just for the World of Darkness. I must admit a little confusion as the advertising before publication didn’t lead me to bel [...]

Although the core mechanics of the World of Darkness line are (mercifully) transparent and mutable, 'WOD: Mirrors' takes the flexibility of the system to its furthest extremes. In short, almost any sort of addition or replacement to the core mechanics tha [...]

This has quickly become my favorite book for the World of Darkness and has been featured on several episodes of Shark Bone and will be making future appearances, I'm sure. The book has several alternate systems for just about every facet of the Storytelle [...]

If there's ever anything that irked you about the Storytelling System, this is a book that lets you toy with the mechanics on pretty much every level imaginable, from the character creation rules to the way combat works, all the way to getting rid of Virt [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
