The samurai is a warrior of great dedication and focus. A samurai's training in bushido, the way of the warrior, is an honor and a privilege to these soldiers. It is through this discipline that the bushi, another name for a samurai, earns the respect and the loyalty of his companions. It is through bushido that all things in life are viewed by samurai.
"I live with the teachings of bushido in my heart always. Loyalty to my lord is loyalty to my people and loyalty to myself."
The way of the samurai is one of discipline and tactical combat. Fighters, paladins, and even some rangers find the teachings of bushido close to their own ideals, and so dedicate themselves to their beliefs or to a tangible master. A warlord's already stalwart dedication to his companions lends itself well to life as a bushi. Whether to turn a new leaf or just learn some new tricks, there are rogues who might consider such a profession. Finally, though rare, barbarian tribes sometimes exhibit the same bond seen in a samurai, and so train their warriors with what can be viewed as a samurai code.
This article details the Samurai profession and the Shogun paragon path.
