Description:
Battlegrounds: RPG Edition (aka BRPG) is virtual tabletop software designed to facilitate and enhance your pen-and-paper roleplaying games, whether the players are all in the same room, or on the other side of the world.
BRPG provides you with all the tools you need to conduct a role-playing session: a battlemap - with an optional hexgrid or square grid - on which to place and move your digital miniatures and props, a virtual dice roller with both standard and polyhedral dice, text chat functions, and a sophisticated Fog-of-War feature that lets you gradually reveal the game map as the players explore.
BRPG is not a game itself, but rather a tool for playing a game that you already own over the internet. It supports play in any genre and with any RPG rules system. The software is easy to use and cross-platform (Mac OS X and Windows). BRPG can be used online (it uses peer-to-peer networking; no central server required) or offline. It is the perfect remote-gaming solution for gaming groups where one or more members have moved away, and is also an excellent "digital battlemat" for use in face-to-face games.
The program features a user interface that hides away when you don’t need it, to avoid on-screen clutter and heighten the immersion factor. With its full-screen map and high-resolution tokens, BRPG can provide stunning visuals. And with its audio support, you can enhance your game sessions even further with music and/or sound effects. Audio can be used to set the tone, enhance the mood, or even to provide the players subtle clues.
Here are some other highlights:
• Photorealistic 2D dice and an incredibly-powerful dice roller that supports most RPG game die-rolling mechanics, yet requires absolutely no scripting; you can even hear the dicerolls
• Built-in text chat with support for group or private chat, in-character and out-of-character chat, chat aliases, chat macros (for the GM's "read-aloud" text or for frequently-used dialogue), an exportable Chat Log, and more
• A highly-configurable Turn Sequencer helps keep your game zipping along; it ensures that everyone always knows whose turn it is (or if their turn is coming up), and also keeps track of important character stats; the Turn Sequencer features automatic sorting, value-tracking for every unit, support for turn phases, allows you to autoroll initiative for all combatants with a single click, and much more
• The Fog of War feature uses either manual GM-controlled reveals or dynamic reveals (based on light sources present and each character's unique vision type); use both methods simultaneously for maximum control over what is revealed and what isn't
• Easily add your own artwork (maps, tokens, portraits, etc.) to the program
• Display visual aids
• Support for card decks, including custom card deck creation
• A token-swapping feature lets you easily switch token poses (standing, prone, mounted, etc), or “flip” virtual counters
• Area of Effect overlays let you easily show what part of the map was affected by a spell, explosion, etc.
• Pop-up character portraits, range measuring, a full assortment of drawing tools, and much more round out the feature set
• Easily customize the program to support just about any game without any scripting or XML editing, and with a minimum of data entry
• "Out of the box" support for any RPG system; no need to purchase additional rulesets
• Ideal for use with a projector, HDTV, or large LCD screen in face-to-face game sessions
• Use Battlegrounds to generate awesome visuals for your play-by-forum or play-by-email games
• If you already use a mapping program like Dundjinni or Campaign Cartographer, you can save time and money by not having to print out your large, full-color battlemaps
• A developer who listens to user feedback, and a helpful, friendly, and rapidly-growing user community
• A free, full-featured Demo is available for download, so you can try out the software before you buy
• Many free artpacks are available for download, and commercial artpacks are available to further enhance your games
• Two free sample adventures are available for download; they are great for learning the software and seeing what is possible with it
• Includes a Lobby feature for finding games and players
• A thorough User Manual, in-game ToolTips, and a "Learning Mode" that initially hides advanced features all combine to make the program easy to learn, use, and master
• In addition to RPGs, Battlegrounds can also be used to play many boardgames & wargames; many free digital game conversions are available for download, and a growing selection of commercial Game Boxes are also available; you can also use the software to create your own digital game conversions (using scanned or downloaded game components); game designers can even prototype, playtest, and distribute their own games
Battlegrounds is the tool that GMs and players have long been waiting for. One that can bring your games to new heights of excitement and realism.

This product is a Floating License for a BRPG GM Client. A Floating License allows a player to join a game session using just the free BRPG Demo. Think of it as a virtual seat at the virtual table. Floating Licenses are ideal for GMs who expect a lot of player turnover, or for generous GMs who simply don't want the players to have to purchase the Player Client software themselves.
A player who logs into your game using a Player Client or a GM Client does not use up one of your Floating Licenses.
