Mystery of the Gnome Crystal Mine

A Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e mini-adventure site for 4–6 Characters Level 1–2

Deep inside a nearby forest a trio of Gnomes toil deep within the earth, in search of magical crystals. Crystals demanded by the wizard community for weird science experiments, delving into the wonders of the magical arts. But the flow of crystals from the mine has come to a sudden halt as ferocious Forest Cats have invaded the mine!

Having fled for their lives, the Gnomes now petition passing parties of adventurers for help to evict the feline squatters and retake the Crystal Mine. Offering intrepid adventurers who can accomplish the task a ransom of precious uncut crystals, worth a small fortune to the wizard community.

The forest cats now lurk within the dark confides of the Gnome Crystal Mine, having turned the caves within into a den. But why the mine when there is a plentiful forest outside, and why now? Unbeknownst to the Gnomes, their burrowing through stone and crystal is slowly, with each shove full of earth, has uncovered an ancient stone structure deep within the earth. A stone structure that has been lost to living memory for generations...

Compass Points

Compass Points are a new concept from Studio WyldFurr; the creation of small adventure locations or compass points that the Game Master can simply drag'n'drop into their campaign for a little added spice during an adventure. Each Compass Point package contains all of the maps and tokens the game Master will need, plus a PDF that acts as a plot guide for the miniature adventure. But the plot is not set in stone, we recommend that Game Masters adjust the plot to fit their own campaign.

Package Contents

The Generic Virtual Tabletop Edition of this Compass Point was put together to support Players and Game Masters who play online using VTT apps such as Roll20, Battlegrounds, or d20Pro. Inside the product zip file you will find a PDF guide to the Gnome Crystal Mine. The guide details the inhabitants of the Mine, their motivations and stats, plus a number of plot hooks to help introduce the location into your campaign along with a wealth ready made Game Master Narrative.

Next up are the maps for the Crystal Mine itself, each map is cross-referenced in the guide with a detailed description.

Lastly you will find a folder of Character Tokens that you can use to display each of the NPC's found inside the Crystal Mine on the virtual tabletop.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
