I have only had the opportunity to scan through this beast, everything that was important to me was present and complete.

The scan is perfect, I haven't found any issues with the OCR, but the material does not work well with everything written before it on infernalism as it is focused on Demon the Fallen, but ignores most of that material as well.

BIG EYES, SMALL MOUTH 3rd Edition (or BESM 3e) is sadly the final bow for the Tri-Stat System, as Guardians Of Order went out of business in 2006 and White Wolf/Arthaus has declined to continue supporting the Tri-Stat line (for both legal and financial reasons). This is truly a pity, as BESM 3e is one of the best multi-genre RPGs ever published and is a fitting capstone to the Tri-Stat Era. It has just about everything a gamer could ask for: an easy to learn rules system, character creation options that allow you to build any sort of hero or heroine you can think of (and I do mean ANY sort, the rules allow you that much flexibility), fast-as-lightning combat rules, an extensive section on equipment, helpful hints for Game Masters, and even a "multi-verse" campaign setting. There are also options that allow you to play a stripped down, "Basic" version of BESM 3e to make the game even more versitile, and there's even a "Take 6" variant that lets you play the game without using dice at all!
Only a few small quibbles keep this from being a full 5-star review. As other reviewers have mentioned, the Dynamic Powers Attribute is very poorly defined here; I suspect this was a problem with the editing, as previous editions of BESM and Tri-Stat dX have made it far clearer what a character can do with Dynamic Powers (for example, Tri-Stat dX states a character may use Dynamic Powers to simulate a number of Attribute Levels equal to twice the level in Dynamic Powers, with the restriction that no one simulated Attribute may have a Level higher than the original Dynamic Powers Level). Only one sample character is provided; a few more examples would have been helpful, especially ones for NPCs with lower point values. And for long-time players of BESM 1e and 2e, they have to rework every character/equipment sheet they've created, as the changes in 3e make it completely incompatible with all earlier Tri-Stat products.
But all in all, BESM 3e is a master work, and well deserving of a place in your RPG library. The demise of the Tri-Stat System is a sad thing, but it certainly went out on a high note with BIG EYES, SMALL MOUTH 3rd Edition. And if you're not really a fan of Japanese animation, don't let that keep you away from BESM 3e: you can, after all, do ANYTHING you want with the rules....

While this novel certainly is not bad, neither is it really any good. It rises a step above fan fiction, but shallow characters and underwhelming and cliched settings and trappings really drag this novel down.
It certainly adheres to the canon of White Wolf's 'Vampire: The Requiem' game world, but really offers little depth or interest. The fiction printed within the published roleplaying books is FAR better than this novel.
I cannot rate this 2 1/2 stars, so I have to downgrade it. Disappointing in quality and price. If this was fan fiction published on a website, I would rate it 3 or even 3 1/2 stars. As a "professional" novel, a lower rating is deserved.

A well researched and very informative source book. Blood of the Wolf explains the abilities of the wolf, be they their regeneration process, how they adapt to urban and wild environments and their drives, in very clear detail. The section on the wolf-blood in particular offers very handy insight into the werewolf's psyche, how they relate to their parents, other humans and beings. Besides the Forsaken, this is the most insightful product of the line that I've read. I wholeheartedly endorse it to anyone who wants to write for the Werewolf: The Forsaken franchise.

While some players might feel awkward with Requiem's new direction,
I find this to be more of a knee-jerk reaction to the new "edition" that emerges
rather than any weakness of the products themselves.
The material finally lets go of the Masquerade-only-weaker recipe and shines on its own merit. This book is essential as the line will make use of the rules detailed here in the future and, again, finally lets go of Thaumaturgy conversions instead going for true Sacraments and Blasphemies!
I can't recommend this book enough. I bought the PDF and soon I'll be placing an order for a printed book as well. Can't wait!

Like many others I was mildly upset (an obvious understatement) when White Wolf decided to end the (Classic/Old) World of Darkness line last decade (2004 or so). When V20 was announced I was initially not interested, determined to move on and embrace Vampire The Requiem.
I cannot express how excited I am about the return to (the non-meta-plot version) Vampire the Masquerade. This book is terrific, but this review is more about the quality of the print-on-demand book I ordered last week.
It is beautiful. The hardback binding is virtually identical to the original books--solid binding, glossy cover, heavy weight. The paper, though seemingly lighter in weight, is of good quality. The printing--full bleed!--is different from the original products only in the process uses a more matte ink and paper than a semi-gloss treatment from previous versions.
I was not expecting much from a print-on-demand book and, clearly, I set my expectations far too low.
Terrific job, WW and DTRPG!

When this game was first released, a long time ago in a gaming life I had before I was married, it was just another storytelling game from White Wolf. Yes like all the other WW fans I bought it along with all of its expansions but I never really played or ran it.
I am so glad I've now picked up the game again. I'd never previously appreciated how elegant the magic rules are or how dramatic the game can be.
I cannot recommend this game enough and I can't believe I pretty much let it pass me by first time round - not this time though !

With the Circle of the Crone being my favorite Covenant, I was happy to see the new Theme based system for blood magic that gives much more flexibility with rituals. Only thing I found disappointing is the new system no longer allows the use of Spirit Cruac rituals that appeared in the Circle of Crone book. For STs who don't usually play or run Mage: Awakening, but want human magic user NPCs in their Requiem game or other genre, the new system in Blood Sorcery can work well as an alternative magic system for Thaumaturges and Mages.

The portal to Narnia may have been a wardrobe, but the portal to fears and nightmares is that dark corner in the back of your closet, at night. I felt as if this novel was written there; I can vividly picture the author crouching over parchment, scribbling with a quill, by candlelight, in deafening silence. If you like dipping your toes on the dark side of your mind, give this novel a try.

You will fall in love with this book the same way Simon Meeks fell in love with his Jane Doe at their first unlikely meeting. The book reads like walk through dream world of wonders and nightmares withs a flow of Poe's dark poems. You are going to peer into weird darkness of the world and of the psyche.
For all the lovers and fans of weird, dark and strange.

You know how much I love this book? I'm on my 3rd read through. Seriously this is one of the best horror fictions I've read in a long time. Even though it is set in the New World of Darkness setting it stands strong as it's own entity. You'll see little Easter eggs here and there but you won't feel like you're reading a game fiction.
The characters are so life-like..no pun..that you start to care for them. Simon, Nyx, even Icky. The love story between Simon and Jane is so sincere you wonder what happens afterwards. Plus I am a huge fan of the corbies. Give it a read I doubt you'll be disappointed. Take a trip to the Dead Waters, you'd be surprised who you might run into.

The 20th Anniversary Edition combines the best of the best of the old Vampire the Masquerade game and strives for completion. All the clans, all the powers and most of the iconic characters. It is more expensive that any of the other White Wolf Vampire games, but it is also the largest and everything you need for years of playing is right here. Or more the point, everything from years of playing is right here. It is easy to pick this up and feel like it is 1990 again.
I think this book is really aimed more at people that played V:TM back in the day and now have a desire to go back to those nights where monsters roamed the city. There is a lot here for new players though too. If you have never played a Vampire game then this has everything you need.
