I think I like this version of Trek better than where they took it over at Paramount. The book is a great intro into the setting and makes me rather eager to delve into the games attached.

I have just recently purchased the Prime Directive Federation sourcebook. I was surprised by how poor the scan was. I wonder if there is any pride in your work to put out a product that comes off so poorly done. The front cover was full of cracks on it! Where did you find that book? As for the pages, the scan is a little off center, makes it uneven printing. I am very disappointed in how this copy came out. It is not work the money that you asked for, it should be given out for free.

Readability Note: For those concerned about readability, the file was updated on December 12, but no significant readability problems were evident in the original. the file was and continues to be readable. This is a pdf made from scanned images, but the scan is as clean as you would expect based on the style, font, and age of the printed source. There are no bookmarks, however.
The Federation Sourcebook (1994) was a useful expansion to Prime Directive, fleshing out a lot of things which players asked about when the game first launched. It added new character types (Commando, Combat Engineer), expands the material on Vulcan psionics, and adds rules and background for non-Vulcan psionics. In addition to offering a great deal of knowledge concerning the Federation and its member races, the expanded rules options and play aids, such as hit location, alternate/advanced initiative, and the ship recognition section increased the speed and ease of play while providing many more hooks and background ideas for players to incorporate into characters.

This is a good book and it's nice to see it available on DriveThru, but... the quality of the file leaves a lot to be desired. While the preview is clear and easy to read, the actual file is very pixelated, which makes the text almost unreadable. Until the file is fixed, save your money and don't buy this book.

Essentially, you have to treat it as fanfic, as there is soooo much outside of the canon here. I mean, seriously, it even includes the CroMags as an alien race...aren't they from SLIDERS?
Still, you can get some fun stuff out of this, and for free I suppose I can't complain.
The best part might be the catalog of other GURPs Star Trek books at the end. :)

The third of three available issues. There were 15 released back in the 70's when board and counter games were king and computer gaming was in the future. Lots of good game material especially Panzer Blitz / Panzer Leader material.
I hope they continue to make these time capsules of gaming's golden age available

A gaming classic finally made available again. Take a trip back to the 70's when gaming magazines were about game variants and adding to the product. In particular lots of Panzer Blitz material. Well worth the money and great trip down memory lane for gaming grognards.

After an initial reading, I am really quite impressed by the mechanics and feel of this game. I am quite surprised that the publisher did not maintain this version of Prime Directive in addition to the d20, Gurps, and Traveller versions. There is much to be said for this unique RPG. Be warned though....and it bears repeating....this is NOT Trek as it currently stands. It is Trek as it might have evolved based on the original series. And frankly, I like the Starfleet universe better anyway as it seems more consistent.

A gaming classic that I am glad to see available once again. The Panzer Blitz material by itself was worth the money.
Hopefully additional issues will follow to highlight gaming from the 70's when we still used typewriters and didn't have computer graphics. This issue isn't fancy but concentrates on games.

You should be aware that these rules only incorporate information from the original TV show from the 1960's. None of the information in the movies, TNG, DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise is included in this game.
Also, the game takes the TV show as a base then goes off in its own direction, which contradicts later shows in the Star Trek genre in some cases.
Overall, I would have to say that I was displeased with the product as a result of these problems. It's a fine RPG, but it's not what I would consider to be "Star Trek".

This product is an excellent introduction into the FASA Star Fleet Battles version of Star Trek, best of all it's FREE!!!
You're given a fairly comprehensive, yet basic, insight into the various species and their societies. You get a very basic and primative galactic map reminiscent of the SFB products of the early 1980s that brought fond memories and even a tear to my eye. The modern gamer will find the map to be quaint and only minimally useful.
You're also given a good overview of all the SFB related products available, making it easy to pick which ones you'll buy and in what order.
I would have liked more content covering the various pewter starship miniatures, however beggars cannot be choosers. Its a free product don'cha'kno?

Great artwork intimidates me. I like the retro-80s look or the generic look found in GURPS and HERO System. IMO, great colorful artwork says, "you can play this game by using only our rules." While "crappy" artwork says, "you can play using our rules, but we prefer that you make the game yours." So, I'll be replacing their suggested RPG engine (d20 Modern) with Spycraft 2.0.
I rated this product four stars based on my bias towards Star Trek, d20 systems, and retro-80s art.

This "Prime Directive" is really disapointing. Mostly text (like in the 80´s); no cool Pictures for the mood(just the Cover is good). For the Year 2011 this is bad. - I have waited a long time to get this...i am sorry for the money.
