Marvel Heroic Roleplaying: Civil War Event Book (Premium Edition)

More like a set of well organized campaign notes than a typical "module" or classical dungeon. Civil War premium edition contains everything you need to run the Civil War story line through your groups own personal "what if" scenario. Very little of it is hard wired, most events don't hinge on particular Heroes belonging to one side or the other. It is more of a story arc outline but with suggestions for heroes for each side.

The only thing I would suggest is that you read through the entire plot for all acts before begining play to make sure you help guide the story in the best possible way, and allow you to foreshadow future events if possible (you never really know what your players will do)

Spycraft 2.0 Rulebook - Second Printing
Publisher: Crafty Games
by Marc H. [Verified Purchaser]

I just wanted to jot down some of my first impressions of the spycraft 2.0 pdf.

First a little background, while this is not my first d20 .PDF file I have purchased, it is the first time I have purchased a .pdf to be used first and foremost in its electronic format. I don't have a laptop, and I don't really see one in my near future (unless anyone has one just lying around that I can have :) ). Previously I have always printed out the document and used it like any other d20 supplement. But as this is a HUGE color document with graphics up the wazu, I won't be printing it out anytime soon.

Next I already bought Spycraft 2.0 (and 1.0). I bought it mainly to support crafty, secondly to get the gear tables. And thirdly to integrate all of the errata that was a pain to keep track of as I am trying to learn this new system.

So if this sounds like anyof you folks, this first impression is for you.

Look and Feel. Just in case you have not read any other reviews, the .pdf has the same style that you had in the first printing. no surprises.

Tables: The gear picks are much easier to read now, a vast improvement over the first printing. So far it does not disapoint.

Errata: So seamless I can't tell what is errata and what is original text. However it a concept is easier to understand than before most likely it was errata.

Organization: As we all know Spycraft 2.0 is dense. Really dense, and literally brimming with information. Well it is still so dense that I still have trouble finding what I am looking for. Take for instance the description of the P90 heavy submachine gun. It lists as a quality UPG (red dot sight). I recalled I never found the reference to this red dot sight in the original book. I spent a lot of time looking up UPG meant (weapon upgrade), finding the weapon upgrade section and then looking for Red Dot Sight. and not finding it. So I decided to try and check again.

Found the FN-F90 description, saw the upgrade, checked the bookmarks for weapon upgrades this was done in about the tenth of the time compared the the dead tree version. However I still could not find anything called a red dot sight. So I decided to search, and Boom there it is, 3 pages down fromt the heading of weapon qualities under the bold heading of Red dot sight. Why I did not see it before, I don't know, I guess fatigue. But this illustrates the power of the pdf files and how the power of the search tools and bookmarks can drastically improve the ability to find the info you need in this huge book.

I'm not saying the book is badly put together, but I think it has so much information that the details are often hard to locate in the sea of data. And it looks like the pdf is a pretty good way to navigate yourself through it all.

So that is my first impressions hope this helps anyone who is on the edge to take the plunge. The water is a bit clearer, and you now have sonar :)

Marc

p.s. Just for the record, I already had the book from Amazon for about $25. The book normally sells for much more, and Amazon just sells it real cheap. I don't understand how you can give this product a bad score just because you found an older version of the prodcut cheaper at another place. I for one think this is a perfect compliment to the current and future hard cover editions.

LIKED: Very up to date with little errata
Great overall concept and seemless game mechanics integration
Great bookmarks
text searchable to find hard to locate info quickly

DISLIKED: Could have had more examples of play, for instance on creating and using NPC's and Special NPCs.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
