Thieves' World Player's Manual
Publisher: Green Ronin
by Eric P. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/14/2005 00:00:00
This is an excellent product that also serves as a good primer to Sanctuary to anyone (like me) who is just getting into the books.

Love the new character classes. I am going to use some for my regular d20 games. Great non-magical Ranger! The new magic system, an adaptation of the d20 system, is very cool, though a little overwhelming when first trying it. However, it feels more like heroic fantasy than the cut and dry base d20 version.

LIKED: Art is very good, writing is breezy and the product is solid in what it delivers. Character clasess awesome, magic system very good, combat changes excellent. AND NO ALIGNMENT!!!

DISLIKED: It wasn't twice as big (ROFL).

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied

Power Gamer's 3.5 Warrior Strategy Guide
Publisher: Goodman Games
by Eric P. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/16/2005 00:00:00
If its you versus your GM, this is the book to beat him. Build monster unbalanced characters that will leave your party companions as onlookers during battle as you strike down opponent after opponent.

It is NOT a fighter's guide, it gives advice to all classes how to build a combat mongering character, especially multi-classers, using all the core classes.

It really is like a computer game strategy guide for games where combat is the most important aspects (if your GM runs Goodman Game's Dungeon Crawl Classics you NEED this book).

LIKED: Really gives the "this is what works" advice, backed up by math. Easy to read, good sense of humor. Also, all advice is based exclusively with the core classes, feats and skills from the 3.5 Player's Handbook. By keeping out material from other books it makes sure your GM cannot overule your munchkinizing because the rules are not "offcial."

DISLIKED: Don't get if your play style is not at least 80% kicking butt.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied

A must have for a GM. Lots of new rules and advice for running a d20 Fantasy game (much of which can be applied to d20 Modern as well).

LIKED: New conditions, easy to build NPCs, lots of good advice.

DISLIKED: It didnt have an infinite page count!!! (lol)

Advanced Player's Manual

Excellent... I mean, come... it's by Skip Williams who help write the core rulebooks for d20! Not as earth shattering as Unearthed Arcana in its variants, but more directly useful (as in easier to adapt to a campaign). The race section is tops!

LIKED: Very well done! Lots of good stuff for a game.

DISLIKED: Layout is had on the eyes onscreen.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied

Very well done. I reccommendit for all the tinkerers who love a little variation in their games. Can be used for PC to create their own classes, and for a DM who wants to spice up NPCs with surprises. I am most amazaed by the quality of the design... put simply... it works.

LIKED: Flexible, well thought out.

DISLIKED: Would have liked to have seen it slithly easier to use.

QUALITY: Very Good

Dark Stars
Publisher: Bayn.org
by Eric P. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 11/18/2004 00:00:00
I expected more. It is cheap and smll, but I have gotten used to having something I can enjoy or really use in my games. Unfortunatly this one merely borrows mosters from Cthluhu, gives some not-so-imaginative plot ideas for them, then ends with an uninspiring adventure that just seems thrown in. I got much more useful stuff picking up my copy of Call of Cthulhu and adapting it to space.

I would have rather had a more detailed look at why these things are in space, how they could hook into different scienc-fiction environments such as realistic sci-fi or space opera, etc.

LIKED: Not much.

DISLIKED: Not really usable. Mosters borrowed from Chaosium products. Doesn;t add anything new. Cannot reccommend this book.

QUALITY: Disappointing

A nice product, except they print too dark (I only printed the color ones). Otherwise, very useful for a sci-fi game.

Another good adventure. The EPIC adventure system lots of openings to add your own storylines in, and good plot twists make it more fun. Thank goodness someone is writing good adventures not for a fantasy setting.

Written for T20 it can be easily used for GURPS Traveller and Classic Traveller.
