Much more about fungi then I ever would have thought up myself. Never again am I going to just say "there are musrooms clustered along the north wall of the cave".

I got this book out of curiosity and a need to give my game's herbalist something creative to do. I was pleasantly surprised by the well written and easy to use book I received. Using everything in one game would be impossible, but a little here and there makes for some interesting game play.

I have been running 5 sessions of an adventure in a maze-like monster burrow. This book has been my main source for terrorizing and torturing my players. Since the druid has been unconscious - no one can identify all the fungi. After a few encounters with some of the nastier ones, the whole group is paralyzed with paranoia. Heh, heh, heh.

LIKED: Great info - all descriptions are loaded with useful information.

DISLIKED: I am a table person. I had to make a few tables to group the various fungi by location and benefit/hazard. I also made a random placing table and then rolled to see which one to put in different places of my dungeon.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied

Comprehensive, extensive, detailed, creative -- nothing else like it out there. Some sections will be more useful in RPGs than others, but all of it is fun to read.

LIKED: The level of detail in the descriptions, and the broad variety. Some fungi types that I can see using easily in the game: poisonous, ritual, medicinal, magical, maybe infectious.

DISLIKED: I'm finding it hard to figure out how I would incorporate the other types of fungi into my game. Maybe if I had more herbalists or witches? Some hints would have been useful.

But if you have any excuse to include mushrooms in your game, this is DEFINITELY the book for you!

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied

Joy, Thank you for your review... with your likes and dislikes in mind, I would like to present a question to you and anyone else reading this. We have been thinking about creating more of the Fantasy Fungi but are unsure whether the gaming community would see use or interest in such a product (or products). If we were to, would it be better to release another larger project such as this one or create smaller add ons of fantasy fungi, aka pdfs that sale for $1 a piece and contain say between a dozen or two new fungi? Concise, detailed, original, and balanced. You won't, thank goodness, find "potions in mushroom-form" here, but what you w?ll find are lots of tasty, handy, subtly magical, or vile and poisonous fungy that are really nice additions to about any campaign, whether high or low-fantasy or even modern!
I even (maybe, "especially") like the "pesky, semi-useless" fungy in Fantasy Fungy. Semi-useless they may be, but they are nicely described, and can serve as wonderful little parts of the scenery. Or house monstrous vermin, or be brewed into a fruity tea by druids.
Hoo boy, am I going to find use for this little jewel!
