A good resource for almost any superhero campaign. Zodiac Ring works as an adventure or better yet a mini-campaign within an established ongoing game. There is a lot to like here, from the well thought out set-up to solid advice on how to progress through and finish the storyline.

The artwork and NPC roles are less inspired, but it doesn't take away from a low-cost campaign that is easy to read and ought to be just as easily to implement in your superhero campaign. It is intended for Mutants & Masterminds but could work easily for most superhero games.

This is a great Adventure from LAME MAGE. This adventure includes everything you could need, you can run this as a one or two session game all the way to this being the backbone of an entire campaign. I really enjoy the set up of this product, if you are not interested in the adventure itself the new characters as well as the Action Schticks are worth the few bucks this product will cost you. Another great product from LAME MAGE

Overall, an interesting product with well developed characters. It's counter-intuitive (at least to me) internal organization is its only real downside.

LIKED: It's a well thought-out basis for a campaign, and the Zodiac Ring are interesting NPCs

DISLIKED: The organization of the product. It just seemed counter-intuitive to me.

QUALITY: Excellent

The Zodiac Ring is a campaign centering around a cosmic artifact that chooses avatars to represent the zodialogical signs and maintain cosmic balance.

The product contains NPCs for each sign of the zodiac, statistics for the cosmic artifact itself, and several scenarios that can be wrapped together into a campaign.

LIKED: The concepts presented are good and there was obviously a lot of thought put into the product.

DISLIKED: The formatting is not the best and nothing really sticks out. The lack of bookmarks is a problem as well. The author states that the product is formatted single column instead of double column to make it easier to read on a computer screen. The problem is that it isn't significantly easier to read.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied

The Zodiac Ring provides material for a M&M GM to use as a plot device, explanation of powers and adventure starter. Naturally everything is based around the Zodiac Ring, a mystical artefact, which can transform people into the avatars of the zodiac.

The Zodiac Ring should provide a solid basis for a campaign or a sub-plot in a campaign and the author has charted out various paths and ways to incorporate the material into a game. The 12 zodiac avatar characters are fairly interesting and most can easily be used without the metaplot elements. Lastly, the art is clean and easy to look at (with the occasional 3-panel stick figure strip to add a bit of humor).

LIKED: Flexability of the design, allowing a wide range of application of the material.

DISLIKED: None of the characters really inspired me, they are good, but they just did not grab me.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied

Thanks Sean. The personalities and backgrounds of the characters are intentionally kept minimal, since it's part of the premise that they are ordinary people who gain their superpowers during play. GMs are encouraged to substitute some normal NPCs that are already established in their own game (for example, having a hero's kid sister turn into Libra instead of the police officer described). The write-up of Scorpio in the demo download is a good example of what kind of character background a GM can expect.
