Great set of useful beasts for aspiring heroes to confront! Favorite is the Medusa, which I was needing for a game anyway!

A greek mythology approach to monster selection. Manticore, centaur, cyclops, medusa, unicorn, bear, griffon, hell hound, wolf, werewolf, gargoyle hound, eagle, satyr, phoenix, gremlin, giant spider, giant worm, tawhak (raptor style lizard/dinosaur) and giant snake. Excellent quality as usual. Large minis give nice scale comparison during encounters. I continue to be impresed by Arion Games.

You couldn't ask for a better looking bunch of...things. Like all their sets, you can't beat the look or the price

This is a nicely done set of printable monster miniatures. I appreciate that it contains monsters common to most fantasy settings as well as 2 and 3 sided versions. I enjoy using miniatures in my games but just don't have the time or money to spend on purchasing and painting pewter anymore, not to mention storing them. I love products like these and seeing the wide variety Arion Games offers I foresee more purchases in the future.

First of all, I must point out I'm not a great fan of computer generated art. To my mind, it lacks the animation, individuality and flare possessed by painted or drawn artwork. That aside, however, the miniatures range offered by Arion games can only be described as excellent. Computer generated or not, the figures are both an imaginative and useful play-aid to any RPG group which doesn't have the time, money or inclination to spend on metal/plastic miniatures.

The range is broad also, with not just fantasy miniatures, but also sci-fi, superhero, cowboys etc. AND they're affordable!

The minis are very nicely done. I like that the set includes both the two and three sided options. These are nice quality paper minis, and I will definitely put them to good use.

The quality of textures and renderings is very high, specifically the detail work for the dragon scales, the giant worm and snakes' mouths, and the unique appearance given the medusa.

LIKED: Giant sized monsters, especially the giant worm, giant snake, and the dragons. Loved the dragons! The gargoyle hound and medusa are interesting, although some might not like the non-traditional medusa rendering, it's a refreshing change from the standard "snakes-4-hair" look.

DISLIKED: The Manticore face looks kind of cuddly and doesn't work with the lion mane around it. The werewolf looks more like a ghoul or undead creature. It could have been more wolf-like

Pewter or plastic minis are great but can be cost prohibitive when amassing a reasonable variety for a campaign. Arion Games paper minis are a cost effective alternative that look great and can be printed in whatever quantities are needed. When printed on cardstock, they are also fairly durable. Most come in both 2-sided and 3-sided formats and all are in full color. Even if you intend to acquire more traditional miniatures over time, these paper miniatures are an outstanding base from which to start. Highly recommended!

A wonderful set of miniatures. Graham puts some great computer magic on these miniatures to really bring them to life. Certainly more detailed than pre-painted plastic minis and a lot lighter too! If you are like this reviewer, you have neither the desire, or space, or cash, to ?collect? traditional miniatures. Yet, with the tactical combat systems used in many game systems these days, being able to bust out the battle mat and a set of minis is often necessary. Thus you find yourself looking for a practical and inexpensive option for your miniatures needs. Paper miniatures meet this need. When they are packaged as a PDF, you are provided with a readily available source of minis for your games, being able to print as many of a particular figure as you need, without having to invest too much money in them, or time and effort, in the case of those who paint their minis. In short, paper minis are an attractive option for their low cost and convenience, and are also logical options for "collectors" needing a particular miniature, or several of them, for their game.

The figures in Arion Games? miniatures sets come in 3 styles, ?A-frame?, ?Flat?, and ?Triagonal?. The ?A-frame? and ?Flat? figures can be constructed from the same sheets, depending on how they are cut out. The ?Triagonal? minis are constructed from a separate sheet. These construction choices provide additional options in preparing your minis for use in the game, major characters or monsters can be constructed as the ?Triagonal? versions to provide a more visual flair, and to emphasize their importance. Other figures can be done as ?A-Frame? or flat versions to make them easier to handle or distinguish them from each other, thus providing a functional use beyond their graphical characteristics.

The instructions, which are not included in this PDF, but are available on the publisher?s website, are easy to follow. Assembling the minis is quick and painless, just requiring a bit of work with scissors and some glue. The minis look good, even when printed on plain paper. Each figure is drawn from a 3D rendering (done in Poser using figures provided by DAZED, according to the credits), providing sharp detail and life-like shading, even when printed.

This 8 page PDF (9 with cover, weighing in at a whopping 16 MB) provides a set of 20 paper miniatures featuring monster figures. The figures include a freaky faced Manticore, a well-rendered Centaur, a spiky haired Medusa, a beautiful Unicorn (paritcularly the triagonal version), a Bear with some rather odd looking coloration, a psychedelically colored Griffon, a rather dangerous looking Giant Spider, a ravenous looking Giant Worm, some dinosaur thing called a Tawhak, a Giant Snake with the coloration of a pale turd, two Dragons, a Gargoyle Hound (just escaped from Zuul perhaps?), an Eagle, a nicely detailed Satyr, a skinny spiky Gremlin, a Wolf with a bad dye job, a Hellhound with a plasma torpedo stuck in its mouth, a strangely hairless and almost disturbingly naked Werewolf, and a brilliantly colored Phoenix.

Overall, this is a good product from Arion Games, providing a solid selection of monsters for your fantasy miniatures needs. Adding in the fact that you can print as many as you need, and prepare your own figure sheets, this is excellent value as well. However, the textures and coloring choices on many of the monsters take it down a notch compared to other offerings from Arion games. Still, if you need a good miniature of any of the monsters listed (You can always copy the figure and touch up the colors yourself in a graphics app), this is still a worthwhile purchase.

okay so if you go back and read some of my earlyer review of the arion games miniatures you'll spot I mention noise around parts of some miniatures. Well, this is one of two sets so far to use the 'new' pdf creation process. Quite what that means I do not really know or indeed care as the end result seems to me to be that the aforementioned noise is almost entirely eliminated and that the superb level of detail you can see when on screen viewing miniatures is significantly clearer and crisper when the figures are printed off. Maybe it is not a big thing as by and large when the figures are in use you just aren't likely to notice that much difference, but me personally I like the fact that you can pick them up and take a good hard look and actually clearly see all the cool shiny bits the artist went to the trouble of putting there to be seen.

This set is big, well a lot of the figures are big so you don't often get many to a page. There is a lot of classic monsters in there and some more novel ones too and the new pdf creation process means a lot of these figure are just plain cool.

Other points - the giant freebie - available from the arion games website is a nice addition, leaving the figure creation guide out of the file is I think a much better choice.

And finally, in other news - Arion games now offer a custom figure/portrait/illustration service. Check their website for more information but I have tried it out and I really liked the results<br><br> <b>LIKED</b>: The medusa looks ace, but her lower body seems a bit awkward and stiff and the snakes for hair don' look terrible much like snakes. But I still love it. Go figure. The phoenix is super cool, the giat worm and dragons - with a little bit re-scaling to fit one per page of A4 will have your players discovering the silent joy adrenaline and those are just a few of the more noteworthy critters<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: The werewolf looks more like a slightly wolfish man, perhaps more island of doctor moreaux than werewolf proper. Or a werewolf only part way through transformation. The hell hounds fire gout looks very artificial indeed and the giant snake looks rather like a sock filled with newspaper. So there are a few duds.
