World of Darkness: Inferno
Publisher: White Wolf

WoD: Inferno tries to avoid the centrism on western occult traditions and abrahamitic religion that was prevalent in the Old World of Darkness. In Inferno, demons are not necessarily fallen angels but vice-spirits with some additional special characteristics. They gain power from sins committed by others.

From the premise of creating a product that is not limited to western/christian ideas of demons, the authors did quite good. Unfortunately, the introductory chapter creates the feeling that the author(s) didn't really like the theme of demons. This feeling is less prevalent in the following chapters.

In taking a broader and more general view of demons, some mood and flavour is unfortunately lost compared to e.g. Demon: the Fallen. The demon of WoD: Inferno feel more impersonal - forces of nature rather than malicious individual minds and personalities. I still like the product and the ideas presented in it - such as the Possessed - but it is a very different product from the demon-related supplements to oWoD.

Intruders: Encounters With the Abyss

The best supplement for Mage: the Awakening that I've read so far. A lot of good ideas for investigative horror scenarios. The intruders/antagonists/challenges are creative, scary and presented in a way that make them feel easy to incorporate in one's own campaign. Every intruder has suggestions of how it is manifested, how it behaves, how it evolves and how it can be banished (seldom by violence). The book also contains a meaty section with general information about the Abyss.
