I like artwork that has an "old school" D&D feel to it. The cover led me to believe that I would find that in this product. I was somewhat disappointed when I had a chance to take a closer look at the images. First, all the characters look like their eyes are closed! This makes the group picture look a little goofy. Here's a rundown of what you get:
-
The first image could be used as a fighter or ranger. He is holding a bow and a sword with a blade that is about five times wider than the handle (making it look like the sword would be totally awkward in a fight).
-
Next is a large man resting on a big axe and could be suitable as a fighter or barbarian. Would look a lot cooler if his eyes were open!
-
Image number 3 could be an archer or a ranger. He looks like he's either running or tripping. Maybe if his eyes were open he wouldn't look like he just failed a dexterity check.
-
Next image is a female, probably a thief. She's leaning against a wall and is covered in pouches. It appears that she's checking out her manicure. This is the only image where the eyes being closed don't bother me.
- Finally, another burly man with a bow and droopy eyelids. This is probably the best picture in the bunch.
As a positive note the shading and detailing is very good and I do like how the armor and most of the figures are realistically proportioned. Not necessarily and overall bad package, but one that might not fit your needs or the style of the product you wish to use it in.
