This very large monster book is great if you're looking for quirky 3.5 monsters or if you miss some of the odd 1E and 2E monsters. It has a wealth of unusual low-CR monsters for low-level adventures. Also, daemons, demodands, demons, and devils are well-represented. If you want more traditional, hack-and-slash monsters, you might be disappointed. Instead, this book provides strange monsters that can inspire more creative encounters.

An excellent call back, and wonderfully updated, this tome brings you many creatures and beasts. A testament to this book is its heavy use by Pathfinder in their early days to vary encounters and menace players by including these dastardly foes. If you like monsters, and you play some variant of 3rd edition D&D (including Pathfinder), you owe it to yourself to pick up this book and see all of the interesting and vile creatures within. It is a perfect blend of classic and modern sensibilities, which is something that Necromancer Games is well known for.

5 out of 5 Stars!

I could not recommend another monster book more. This is a bestiary in the classical style, containing brief descriptions of interesting monsters. The bulk of the monsters are old school oddities like the Caryatid Column. It includes such creatures as the Greater Medusa, gleefully lifted from the original Clash of the Titans movie, and now translated from AD&D into D&D 3.5. While the monsters vary in utility from "pure awesome" to "so peculier it's surprising to see it even in a book such as this" it is almost a certainty this amazing tome will yield at least a few entries that speak to you at some aesthetic level.

The monsters originally included in this volume where those licensed from Wizards because they had no plans to update them, and thanks to the OGL, they made the transition from 3.0 to 3.5 Since that time, some of the monsters have been re-interpreted for 3e. This book is an excellent opportunity to look at more classic treatments of those monsters, in addition to saving you a few bucks looking around for obscure updates scattered across the entire game line.

The fine folks at Paizo saw fit to adopt some of these critters and take them home, and I personally agree. Whether you are a 3e diehard or a Pathfinder convert, I give this book my strongest recommendation.

Tome of Horrors (Revised) should be required reading for any DM, or GM. Classic creatures, solid write-ups, and some spooky Art as well.

With the PDF currently priced at $7.99, if you're a fan of many of the old school monsters that were not updated originally to 3.0 and latter 3.5, this is a solid bang for your buck. The Tome of Horrors is not only a nicely illustrated book containing many demon and devil lords that took forever for WoTC to officially update, but also has a nice round number of new monsters.

Judging by how often the folks at Paizo uses the monsters from here in their own Pathfinder products, that alone should speak volumes of the utility you'll find here. If you're sticking with 3rd edition, Pathfinder or standard, this should be at the top of your list.

Just for the sake of nostalgia, this is one book you need if you want many of the old favorites back in you 3.5 DnD game.

The layout is perfect making the most of the space and giving priority to the best and most challenging creatures. The book itself is massive and full of information for any GM worth his salt and who wants to give his player something different during a game session.

This book is one of the reasons why the advent of the electronic book format is a blessing in this age of revisions, updates and simply just too much books being put out by great many publishers.

I cannot praise it enough. It's a real steal for the price and those who dare open the Tome, will not be sorry about letting its Horror run wild.

Do yourself a favor: get it and put it to good use.

Liked: Everything, some of the artwork is really, really good an all of it is evocative.

Disliked: What's not to like?

Quality: Superb.

Value: Great price/usefulness ratio.

Tome of Horrors is a fantastic book. Lots of monsters that we all grew up with in their squeaky new 3.5 glory. This update (in many respects) is a lot of fun. It is worth it if you have the 3.0 version since many things changed with 3.5 and if I recall some new creatures were added. It is also a great update for the old 1st edition content, some that never made it to 2nd ed. If you are at all knowledgable about D&D history there are some monsters here that will make you smile (Flumphs, Ubue, vampire roses) or moan. I have all three tomes and this one is the best. Sure, color art would have been nice, but that is picking nits.

There's a lot of monsters that a lot of people missed and this book gives it to them. This book provides a lot of nostalgia for a lot of long time players as well as providing newer players with challengers they don't know everything about.

The book is well laid out, easy to use, easy to read, and BIG. D20 is all about options and this book provides them.

This product has proved to be one of the most useful resources I have for creating monsters with a twist. These are the missing creatures from AD&D. Now you don't need to sit there for hours while trying to figure a conversion for those first edition modules and creatures to 3rd edition. You can look them up.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
