Exalted Second Edition

When I saw this book could be downloaded for free, I LEAPT at the opportunity - after all Exalted is one of the few systems that can appeal to elitist and relaxed gamer alike. And I was not displeased. This book is COMPLETELY worth the fees as well. It is a fun, quick battle, and for those looking for a good, fun anime-type game (and a little more serious than Big Eyes, Small Mouth), you should pick this up.

Book of Lost Houses: The Second Coming
Publisher: White Wolf
by Elizabeth R. [Verified Purchaser]

If you are a Changeling fan, this book should be on your list of should-haves. If you are a Changeling storyteller, it should be on your list of must-haves. It discusses, in depth, both the rarity and the skills of five of the Lost Houses. From the mysterious Beaumayn, to the warriorlike Scathach, this should be required reading for anyone wanting to start their own Changeling campaign. It gives each one a different view of 'commoners', and their responses to them. Most importantly... it puts the Houses into vivid detail, something the Player's Guide did not, leading to some very, very loose interpretations (and some very stereotype) of what one did. It also helps to open up quite a bit of the Sidhe responses as well, making it clear why a Sidhe kithbook was never released (and we are ALL so glad it wasn't, thanks to the weakness of SEVERAL of the kithbooks, Eshu and Nocker being the exception).

Kithbook: Pooka
Publisher: White Wolf
by Elizabeth R. [Verified Purchaser]

As were most of the kithbooks, this one seemed to be completely counter-intuitive to the source book. As a Changeling fanatic (yes, I use that term VERY clearly) I was somewhat disappointed as the book did seem to make light of their prankster nature, and introduced nothing truly unique to the book. The only real thing that was useful was showing those who were uninitiated the differences in the lying styles of the pooka (something that any skilled role player can accomplish without a hand) and the clear explanation that some species are going to be rarer than others. The latter was good and bad for the roleplaying community. Good, as it gave the option of using freebies to choose their animals, thus making it more difficult for one to choose a predatory animal, but bad, in the fact that it made those who wanted to be a unique and special snowflake just use the dots to make themselves a more predatory animal and make the excuse that it's a legal character because they spent the points on it. Nevertheless, it isn't a total loss. Those who wish to play a Pooka should at least see a copy of this book, just to get some basics, but they should not rely on this book on its own.

Don't... [BUNDLE]

This small-press game is something special, that anyone will not want to miss. The game itself is clever, and fast paced, and under the hands of the right ST (which I was DEFINITELY lucky enough to have) it is a marvellously intriguing concept. The character sheets on their own rely more on personality concepts than numbers, more on role-playing than roll-playing, a severely lacking concept this day in age. The powers themselves, based around your character's own severe insomnia is something that requires quick thinking and dramatic interpretation. Sometimes, the rules themselves can be a little vague, very open to interpretation, which might make it a challenge for a first-time ST, but if you have a little power under your belt, this is a game that anyone should be sure not to miss in their lifetime. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
