Great Maps! I bought some SSD map sets when they were sold as hardcopy. This set is their first and oldest set. So it is not as detailed as most of the newer ones. It has been out of print a long time and I don't have it, so I am happy to pick it up in eBook format. I am building my campaign world in Voldaria, and using mostly SSD maps. SSD makes like 7 or 8 major map sets that I know about. Voldaria is perhaps the most extensively mapped campaign world ever. Certainly the best I have seen mapped to this level of detail with standardized map keys. They may look simple, but a lot of work went into these sets and they are very useful once you understand the map key. Do look at the publisher's preview to see what I am talking about. Also check out SSD other map sets to see what I mean about even greater detail. If you normally use color maps with high resolution showing you floor texture and boxes/rectangles for doors then you may not like these. They tend to show a lot more detail then that, and my players find the devil (or perhaps demon or dragon) is in the details.:) I have been a DM for 18 years, I am old school and I like maps I can write on, make notes on, and/or quickly and neatly edit with a black felt tip pen. (and/or on my computer in MS Paint Brush. now with the new eBook version.) Do yourself a favor and check them out for yourself.

I got these after seeing the publishers preview. They are exactly as described. These maps are just what I need to generate dungeons on the fly. They are not pretty, but they seem very functional. 20 different Caves & Caverns. A very detailed map key which instantly tells me how doors locked, where traps are located, and what monsters may be in the area. I like the white space for making my own notes. I will print one map for my players, and one for myself. For the price, these can't be beat. But they are probably not for everyone. Still, I give them my highest rating.

This collection of dungeons-maps is one of the most ugly i've ever seen.

The graphics are of very low quality and are useless on a screen and as a printout.

Must be working for a rival map company. This map set is exactly as described in the publisher's preview. (Please see the preview, don't go by this review.) The designer's notes say these maps were not meant to be pretty wall decorations. They do say this is a detailed Black & White Caves and Caverns map set. And it is. 20 unique maps, which do (in fact) printout well. Tested on B&W bubble-jet and laser. Set comes with a detailed map key, and a bonus color regional map. Some people like them, some people don't. If you don't like them, don't buy them. But don't buy them just to disrespect them, or lie about them. Jon Volden Map Designer
