What it truly needs is further support, though there's little difficulty in adapting "grown-up" adventures to KCC. The rules are simple enough for kids - perhaps too simple at times. Our youngest grandson had no problems picking up Castles & Crusades' rules for players. (Mainly, just one rule.) On the other hand, this is something the five-year old and three-year old were able to enjoy, if only for a limited time.

It succeeds in its objectives, and is a very good game - kids or otherwise. If it just included a ninja cut-out miniature, the previously-mentioned 7-year old would consider it perfect!

KCC is a very cute game. It is an interesting one since it is t touch higher on the complexity scale than other "Kids" games. That is not a complaint, but rather a nice little change. Anyone familiar enough with any other RPG will pick this one up in about a minute. Less than that if you eve played Basic D&D. Classes and Races are the same thing, so you have "Wizard" "Knight" "Dwarf" and the cast of regulars, but also "Fairy" which is nice. The classes have 3 levels each, which is plenty really since by the time the kids get to level 3 they will be ready for some more grown up games. Everyone has something they can do every round so that is also good. The game is simple, easy to learn and use and makes good on it's promise is something you can do with your kids in an afternoon with little to no prep time. At 28 pages it is the perfect length.

If you are a gamer and you have little ones, then this is a great way to introduce to our hobby!

Two things bother me about this product. The first is the art which is predominantly 3D computer model stuff. The game is for kids, so why not have kids do the art for it? That would have fitted with the product and given it a bit of charm in my opinion. Looks like the publisher took the cheap road instead of the creative one.

But what really bothers me is that the game has a class/race of fairies that seems sexist. They cannot fight, and they are always girls. Seriously? No one behind this game thought that maybe that was telling kids that "girls can't fight"? I just crossed that line out mentally while running this game for my family. No way I'm going to even insinuate to my daughter and son that women are limited!

The system is simple, and your kids can learn it easily. Just watch out for what it might be teaching them.

Played with my 4 year old for the first time yesterday. The game is exactly what I hoping for both as an introduction to role playing and heroic fantasy. He took to it very quickly, and seemed to have a good understanding of the story and the basic mechanics. He very much enjoyed fighting giant rats and goblins. We'll definitely be play again. I bought the map / mini pack as well, and the maps were very useful.

I had a lot of fun playing a trio of adventures using KC&C. The rules are fast and easy to use and teach, using 1d6+ a mod or two vs. defense, @ the same for damage. My nephew ran a group of four adventurers on one sheet, and they all did their jobs in game. The cleric kept busy healing the party, the Dwarf and Knight whaled on monsters, and the Wizard zapped enemies with the magic missle. His younger brother could pop in with the Elf from time to time, and then wander off with his mini. You can use minis if you have some, or not.

I wouldn't say it's the ultimate rules lite D&D fantasy game, as it did kind of break down at the top (3rd level), but it was definitely fast and fun, and my nephew played it with his friends, using a couple copies over time, so it was a good intro game and value.

This is a great game for both youngsters and the not so youngsters. The rules are very simple to learn and should be no problem to explain to a little one. The game does seem to expect that the reader at least has some gaming experiance already. Though I do believe that that is the target market, "Gamer Parents".

About the only thing I didn't like was that characters max out at 3rd level, and with the way level bonuses work I can't really see any way around that. Once a group of 3 or 4 characters reach 3rd level they can take on just about anything.

Oh and one thing I can't work out, a dwarf has protection 6, a Giant is -3 to hit a dwarf, so even with the Giants attack of D6+1 it still can't roll enough to hit the dwarf. This I believe is the only time this is a problem, until Magic Armor is found, then there are lots of the monsters that could not longer hit either the Dwarf or Knight. But these can be house ruled easy enough, just thought I would point out where problems still exsisted in the rules.

Any how, I do hope that this game gets another book or two with more monsters and maybe some sort of system for added levels.

I bought this as the bundle with the Arion stand-ups, which I also thought were great, but had a issue or two with as well. I do hope that if there is another book that it will also have stand-ups to go with it.

This product is a good little system for introducing children to role-playing. The heroes are pre-generated, so it could become bland to regular gamers, but it will be easily accesible for the target audience, children.

A good starting point to get your kids gaming!
