Infinite Futures
Publisher: Avalon Game Company

I wanted to like this, i really did, but between the bad art, the poor editing (the classes chapter stuck out in this reguard) and the boring races (i understand your trying to be generic, and that they released an aliens book shortly after, but a little more effort would've been nice) i just can't recomend this book. If i had paid more than a dollar for it, i would be upset. As is, maybe i can mine it for some interesting bits for my HARP SciFi game.

Adventure Companion
Publisher: Crafty Games
by David R. [Verified Purchaser]

The book itself is well written and lives up to what i have come to except from Crafty Games. My biggest issue is that they reprinted all of the previously released classes. I don't mind making that avaliable for people who didn't buy them, but a heads up would be nice, maybe even a small price break for those of us who bought them all.

DC ADVENTURES Hero's Handbook
Publisher: Green Ronin
by David R. [Verified Purchaser]

I collect supers games, from Marvel Saga to Hero System, Brave New World, Aberrant, etc. I collect them because they all have a different take on supers, and a different feel to the game. I like this games, its good, i might even play it, but is it DC? Only in the descriptions, and those don't really matter, so the primary reason for buying the game, the brand, doesn't really matter. Is it worth what you pay for it? Sure, if you want to run supers, or if you really like DC art, but if your looking for THE GAME to run DC Supers, i don't think this is it. In fact, the more i read it, the more i had an idea to use this system to run Marvel supers. but that could just be my personal bias showing

In The Company of Giants: A 1st-20th level Player Character Racial Class (PFRPG)
Publisher: Rite Publishing
by David R. [Verified Purchaser]

Wow, this is, by far, the best racial "splat book" i've come across, tones of flavor in the description and lots of crunch that goes very well with the feel of Giants. The only thing lacking, and this is pretty minor, is rules for only going to up to a certain size, and then multiclassing out. This would work best for Ogre or Troll blooded players, as they wouldn't grow to the size of the others i would think, but its a very minor gripe. Worth every penny

I wanted to take the time to thank David Rybacki, for taking the time to post his review of our prouduct we hope he will try out other racial books (like In the Company of Gargoyles), FYI, nothing forces you to be Colossal you can maintain your size at large and still advance in the class one of the reasons we did not allow all out multiclassing is a question of balance from the playtests. But again thanks for taking the time. 5/5 star review. Snoopy Happy Dance of Joy! Steve Russell Rite Publishing
Psi-Watch Unlimited Edition
Publisher: Skortched Urf' Studios
by David R. [Verified Purchaser]

If this is Skortched Urf's idea of what a campaign setting is supposed to be, then they need to go back and read any of the 3E campaign setting books by WotC, all this book has is a random grab bag of character creation stuff, and mentions of things that happened with no real context at all. It feels like a world with a lot of interesting history and backstory, but none of it is here, and none of it is really told to us. And i understand that they are aiming for the feel of the early image books. Guess what, those books mostly sucked till 2 or 3 years into the runs and they started to explore the backhistory of that newly created world. There is none of that here, and that makes this book less than useless to me. When i buy a campaign setting, thats what i want, not random stuff in a sack that i have to piece together myself.

Cyberpunk v.3
Publisher: R. Talsorian Games Inc.
by David R. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 01/18/2009 08:33:07
I've been playing Cyberpunk for 8 or 9 years, off and on, and i always enjoyed it, the system was simple, lots of books to play with, and it managed to capture the feel of the genre, but it was never as good as i thought it could be. And thats the same problem i have with this version, it captures the feel of the new cyberpunk, with all of its trans/post humanistic trappings, but its not quite there yet. Some people complain about the bad pictures, and they are terrible, or the horrible color choice, equally bad, but these are incidental to the core of the product, a game about being more than human, about living a lifestyle beyond human, and coming to terms with that. Whats lacking, really, is enough information to play the game. You've got just enough information to get into the trouble, and thats its, nothing to help you expand it into a full campaign. And thats sad, because it has a lot of promise. maybe after they release a couple of AltCult books (the first one for the Edgerunner having finally been released) will make it playable, but in its current form, its nothing for a toolkit for a 2 shot adventure.
