I found the product to be about average. The background on each page made it difficulture to read and I found the art to be suggestive in nature. The game uses the d20 System with a roll under system and open creation instead of roll over with levels.

I found the spell create part to be a neat feature of the rules but I would have loved an example or two.

If you enjoy d20 System and wish to head away from level based system then this could be for you. I've grown disatisfied with the d20 System which is why I gave it such a score.

I gave this four stars only because it could be expanded with better rules explanations, especially when they depart from traditional 3.5 rules.

That being said. This is a stand alone game that could fit many genres. I am going to try a setting book to see how it covers the setting.

I am actually fairly burnt out on 3.5. So many products just never delivered. Even Pathfinder could have been done with patch notes. This is not one of them. It can spice up any 3.5 rules you are using or possibly replace them.

It seems they learned where some 3.5 games went wrong and tried to fix it. I am still a little unsure of some of the mechanics; but it is very "tweekable".

I can not strongly enough encourage this product for anyone still playing 3.5 or played it and abandoned it.

Oh, the art work is almost worth the price. Very stylized and inspiring. I wanted to use these rules for a fantasy campaign; but the art really fueled the imagination.

A very nice simplification/generalization of 3.5/Pathfinder rules for character creation into a generalized format that can fit multiple genres. One interesting idea is that you can do an almost-normal person all the way up to a Justice-League hero, with a sort of relatable point system in between. I'd be curious about running a game where players could run the gamut from supers to average Joes with talents, resulting in a 'Buffy and the Scooby Gang' dynamic.

In-book art is great, much better than I'm used to from similar indie titles, especially considering the range of themes and overall length.

As some have mentioned, the book's not yet printer-friendly, but that's not a concern for me, it now includes a nice printable character sheet.

Caviat: I got this for $1.50, which prompts 4 stars rather than 3. The best aspect of the PDF is the art: quite detailed and evocative. This is pretty much a nuts and bolts PDF. It tells readers how to navigate situations in the game but gives few if any examples of creatures, spells, vehicles, powers, etc. It retains too much OGL crunch for me to actually run, but some of the setting books look promising. I'll be interesting to see what the developers come up with.

The fantasy Core Rulebook is outstanding. It resolves many of the issues I've had with 3rd edition and 3.5 Dungeon and Dragons rules, while also giving players a myriad of option in this classless, versatile system. I'd suggest it for any gaming group that desires to have a streamlined quick-paced system that doesn't require a genius to navigate. It truly allows for players to design the character that is in their mind, without causing game balance problems. I was working on a similar system and I scrapped it entirely after seeing this book. I'm not going to attempt to top this!
