The Fourth Milennium is a Transhuman D20 Future setting. It's very light on the rules, assuming you will be using mostly the D20 Modern/Future rule set and didn't need to copy all the rules over. Don't buy this book assuming you'll be getting a lot of new rules, equipment, or other crunchy stuff. There is a little, but just a taste. Half the book is devoted to the organizations and cultures in the setting.

LIKED: Yay, a real futuristic setting for D20 future, not just a transplanted fantasy setting.

DISLIKED: Describing how to have adventures in a Transhuman future is a little mindboggling since many of the assumptions of this world no longer apply. So more concete adventuring advice would have been nice.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
This is a great setting. I want to see more! Much more!

LIKED: It was a very thoughtful view of how the future might be, and yet still well targeted towards gamers.

DISLIKED: I want to see more!

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
A moral quandry here: while this pdf is a fantastic game background that I would love to see more of, I felt a bit cheated that i had already downloaded 90% of it for free in an earlier versions. Ah well. If you have the earlier version, this is prettier but gives little new information. If you don't have the earlier version, get this. Its a great campaign background.

LIKED: The history and setting are wonderfully complex and post-human.

DISLIKED: I was offended that the earlier version included Islam as a major religion, and this version completely cut it out.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
An intriguing framework that would work well as a setting for a d20 future campaign, but needs more crunchy stuff to be a great stand alone product. Still chock full of interesting ideas that could be used in an already existing d20 future game.

LIKED: Great background, premise, and an intriguing way to do sci fi without aliens, but not without alien cultures...

DISLIKED: No enough game material I would have prefered more advanced classes, feats, etc. Needs to be filled out more.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
I was not overly impressed by this product. On the one hand, the ideas for this campaign are so unique that I don't think I will be able to cherry pick all that much from it, and on the other hand, the setting is so big that (the book readily admits) not all of the setting can be presented. I think this setting is too different and too ambitious to be presented well enough in 45 pages.

I also don't think the description is, well, descriptive enough to let buyers get an idea of the flavor of this book. I was expecting something that might be usable with say, Blood and Space-- more traditional future/space.

LIKED: The parts I read were well written.

DISLIKED: Too ambitious for the size. Just not to my taste-- a little too "out there."

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Disappointed
