Not a big fan of the style of the images. The 3D figures feels bland and lacking character to me. There is a good deal of different models to choose from. Instructions are well documented giving many options for how to assemble the models.

Great set although more samurai and ninja would be nice. No mounted samurai. Will be buying Orientals 2 to supplement.

What can I say...These sets are just beautiful... Incredibly detailed, High Quality Images, that far surpass the majority of the paper minatures available. The cover image is an honest indication of the quality of the image for each figure included in the set. True Value for Money... Go have a look at the range of sets offered... well worth a look!

First and foremost, I'd like to start with the fact that I've always loved your rendering style. As always, it's top-notch, and very impressive. And admittedly, you inspired me to make 3d miniatures myself. I must admit, I love your work.

Truth be told, I was very slightly disappointed with the fact that the nobleman is wearing a mere kimono and yukata. Being a fan of Japanese history (and military history) this was a minor let down, but one that I can live with. Also, I found it odd the peasant was using a western farming tool. Most rice-paddy farmers deal in a very wet environment in which a tool like that would be next-to-useless.

However, as my rating reflects, 5-out-of-5, that I have a great deal of respect for your work. However, when it comes to historically accuracy, I'd be more likely to rate this product as "fantasy" more than historically accurate. I can tell you put a lot of work into this one, and I must say I'm very impressed. However, if you ever need someone to talk to about Japanese culture, armor, and weapons, let me know, and I'll be glad to give you advice, and references if you're interested in doing another orientals set. (Which I'd love to see, and would buy in a heartbeat)

Keep up the great work!

If you are playing Clan Wars or some other game that takes place in Japan or some other fictional setting like it, then this set is what you want! The set is an excellent figure set in itself or an excellent stop gap measure until you save up the oodles of currency to buy metal figures. Cannot beat the price! Graham's artwork, skill and attention to detail is the best in the business!

With a heavy emphasis on Japanese culture (also reflected in most 'Oriental' settings) the big selling point here are the obligatory samurai and ninja models, which are very nicely rendered. The rest of the set is built around some models that don't quite meet the standards of the samurai and ninja, however, and the inclusion of only a single soldier model seems a bit off.

LIKED: The armoured samurai are excellent models and the ninja are quite characterful - a real must-have for any game.

DISLIKED: The 'filler' models are quite beneath the quality of the aforementioned samurai and ninja, with the soldier being particularly lacklustre. A lack of Chinese-based models was also curious. No spear-fighters or Shaolin or even a sinister Fu Manchu type aristocrat.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
The Arion figure flats are, long story short, the most beautifull paper miniatures around.

This set has most of what you expect from a paper mini's set, but there is not too much of it. Off course the price is also really low, and you'll get very much for the price.

The paper mini's are soo good looking, you can use them next to normal miniatures and they won;t be out of place!

Thumbs up from me!

LIKED: Gorgeous!! Please make another one! We want more!

DISLIKED: We want more: More individual mini's, plus a sheet of peasants, bushi and other mooks, that we can print multiple times for those generic characters we need lots of! Off ourse price would go up then, but i'll pay it gladly!

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Another quality set of figure flats from arion games. Only this one is kinda personal as I emailed them a whileback to suggest. Unsurprisingly enough it was on the good old 'to do' list but apparently it got shunted up a bit as there was an interest in. And I am not disappointed - the samurai and ninja look the part and in particular the samurai in full armour looky very nice indeed.

These will service me very nicely for a couple of adventures I have and will hopefully impress the gm that prompted me to look around for some oriental flavoured figure flats. I'm pretty certain he will like what is on offer here.

LIKED: The extras such as the geisha and noble nicely rounded off the set and duplicating some figures on the 'fold up' stlye sheet is nice as it means the space on the card is not wasted.

DISLIKED: So far as I'm aware this is the first set without an extra page of assorted extras - the pirates got cannons and a chest, most of the other sets got mounted varients of a couple of the figures, it would have been good to see the same with these maybe a mounted archer or two. And it seems hard to believe they missed the opportunity of a 'wise old master' style figure. But the set is a little cheaper than those with extra bits which is nice to see.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
We have now rectified the absence of a "Wise old master" type figure by adding it as a freebie on the Arion Games website (along with other Oriental freebies)!
