This is a good set of maps, or at least, it could be a good set of maps, with a little bit of effort. The maps are simple black and white, with no grid. That makes them perfect to hand out to players, but then there's all the spelling mistakes on the maps themselves. So, I'm left with something that doesn't really help me as a GM and that I can't really hand to my players either. The included maps aren't all that well thought-out or realistic, either. There's a cargo boat, with a kitchen, but no sleeping quarters. There's a plane, but the cockpit extends all the way to the wedge-shaped nose of the plane, rendering it non-functional in a pre-gravity control age. If I had paid more for this product, I'd be pissed.

LIKED: With a little more work, these maps would be just fine.

DISLIKED: I really don't expect to have to do that work when I BUY a product.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
I have made 6 purchases from rpg now as well as about 10 free downloads, and this is my first disappointment. The idea is spot on and the map choices are useful locations, but in the end the maps are just not much help.

For instance, having a map on hand of an jetliner is a terrific idea, it would likely even inspire a night of gaming. However having a map of a jetliner with only 4 rows of seats is really not so helpful (and that's what's included). Sure, I could extrapolate and assume there are really 30 rows of seats or make changes here or there, but as long as I am going to do that, why not just draw my own map?

And that's what disappointed me about this product. It was a good start, but to really use it, I'd still have to do much of the work that I specifically purchased this product to avoid doing.

LIKED: Awesome idea. Nice opening page. The maps look good.

DISLIKED: Nearly every map is simply too small from the stand point that a restaurant with only 6 tables or an amusement park with 2 rides are not really much more than I would jot down on my own, these just look a lot better.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Disappointed
Unlike fantasy settings, where you can be pretty confident that an inn is an inn is an inn, modern maps are a lot more challenging because you actually have to know what some of these places look like. From above. Or else someone (and there?s always someone, we all have this guy) points out how unrealistic the map is.

Modern Day Maps to the rescue!

LIKED: Modern Day Maps includes a lot of useful maps, the kind that put you on the FBI Watch List if you search for floor plans on the web. Need to have a gun battle with terrorists on a passenger jet? Pull out the Airplane map. Monster hiding in a little girl?s closet? Use the1 Bedroom map. Running an assassination attempt against a chief executive officer? You?ll need the Office map.

Probably the most useful are the generic maps, like Warehouse (everything takes place in a warehouse), Back Alley, Church and Class Room. And of course, there?s the Crack House. Because you never know when you?ll need a map of a crack house. With 33 maps to choose from, it?s a great selection of just about everywhere you think you might need a map, and some places you probably don?t but might use anyway.

DISLIKED: These maps are not on a grid. To be fair, this is an older product before the proliferation of miniatures, but these days it?s unforgivable. Some of them are also not to scale (these are maps, not battle grids after all), but it diminishes their usefulness as a result. The maps that are basically to miniature scale should have a grid, but it?s not too hard to add one yourself.

There?s also a few instances where an extra detail diminishes the value of the map. The Garage map shows a hammer and a wrench. The small office has a gun on the table. I don?t know about you, but I can guarantee that one of my players would demand to be able to grab whatever weapon he sees drawn on the map and throw a fit when he doesn?t get to use it. I like my maps generic, so I can fill in the details later.

Still, these are really minor quibbles. Overall, this is an excellent series of maps.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Satisfied
I am of two minds with this product. On the one hand, the maps are good for stock purposes and provide ideas for the layout of similar locations. On the other hand, the scale varies drastically from map to map (understandably) and does require some preparation if you use miniatures in your games.

I really didn't like the advertisements in the back of this product. I understand the rationale behind it, but come on. At least now I know for the other products by this vendor to adjust the printing settings.

LIKED: The maps are good jumping off points and provide easy stock maps to show players.

DISLIKED: The FIVE full-color pages of advertisements for Haven: City of Violence. I bought this for maps, not for pictures of chicks with guns, suggested prison shower lesbian rape, or some dude getting beaten with baseball bats. Also did not like the scale indicators. What exactly equals a foot? The black part or the white part? Both?

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
A good set of common maps to be used. These are NOT set for 1" figures or any minatures of any kind. Once I got past that I ended up really liking this set.

Black and white will be easy on the printer. The maps are not cluttered with excesive detail which is a plus because I will be using this to write and draw upon the specifics of my campaign. This will be a good visual aid.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
This is good if you're out of ideas. If you're struggling with maps, this is a starting point. If you have every single detail of every single building planned out already, don't buy this product.

Eh. Not as useful as I would have hoped. Also, most of the maps weren't in 5' squares, which made using them kind of a hassle. Overall I'd say I wouldn't purchase it again if I had the chance.

This product is terrible. The maps are of nothing useful, and there are many pointless ones. The scale changes from map to map and they are all 8X11.

Spelling mistakes, scale problems, and pointless maps. Hopefully this prevents anyone else from making the mistake of buying this.

Absolutely terrible. Elements in the maps are out of proportion to one another and the layouts are often unrealistic.

Not a bad product, but it would help if the maps had a superimposed grid (5 ft. x 5 ft.) to aid in their use. Another downside is that the PDF is locked so you can't copy the maps into your scenario for later use.

Overall though $5 for 30 or so maps isn't bad.

I am very disappointed by this product, any potential use is ruined by basic spelling mistakes and some odd layouts.

As far as the actual plans go, the worst offender is the airplane which looks like half a boat, it also has several NATO infantry divisions in the cargo hold and an engine room on the upper deck!

This is mediocre at best. There are a number of interesting subjects, but the scale is all over the place, and none are suitable for use with miniatures. In addition, objects do not seem to meet the scale. For example, in ?1 Bedroom,? it appears as if the bed is 11 feet long by almost 6 feet wide. Some of the objects are well done, but stand in stark contrast with the simple lines used for walls ? as if they had minimal thickness.

A complete waste of money. The areas 'mapped' are so small and so basic (Small Bedroom, Helo Pad, Boxing Ring) as to require no assistance whatsoever.
