The Playlist from Hell: 666 Sinister Songs for Your Horror Campaign

The Playlist from Hell: 666 Sinister Songs for Your Horror Campaign I liked the idea behind this list, a playlist for horror gaming but I wasn't floored by the execution. The list does have its positive points. 1) It is an inexpensive way to get some solid ideas about music in a horror games. 2) It does cross several genres of music, not just focusing on the obvious or the easy pick. However, there are couple of weaknesses with the list itself. While I understand including a couple of novelty songs in theory the three I noticed took away from the feel of the list and one I don't think really even belonged at all (They're Coming to Take me Away, while one of my favorite novelty songs, felt very out of place here). Also, there were a coupe actual errors on the list: 1)one song is repeated - Bodies by Drowning Pool and another 2) Forsaken by Dave Draiman is listed as being by the wrong artist. Overall I like these lists, I own three of them (songs for supervillains and superheroes) and I will probably purchase others if made available. Ho...

DC ADVENTURES Universe

Editeur: Green Ronin

DC ADVENTURES Universe DC Adventures Universe is easily the best of Green Ronin's DCU campaign guides. More than the two alphabetized character rosters, Universe really captures the feel of the classic DCU as a place of oddities, awesome second string heroes, obscure trivia and wonders. I've barely begun reading through Universe, but I've already discovered some neat things I never knew about the DCU. Universe is a great historic record of the DCU post Infinite Crisis and pre-Flashpoint, presenting fans with a very complete look at the universe as it stood just a few years back. As always, presentation is wonderful, and the comic art used is well chosen and neatly laid out. I'm hoping Green Ronin gives us some more DC sourcebooks in the future. I'd love to see more Legion of Superheros related content, because the 31st Century has enough plothooks for a dozen gaming hardbacks, as well as a second volume of Universe dealing the places and planets of the New 52 DCU. Ghouls: Fatal Addiction
par Paul H. D. B.
Editeur: White Wolf
Date Ajoutée: 06/17/2013 14:08:26
Ghouls: Fatal Addiction The daylight cousins to the Vampires couldn't be better exposed. The creativity of this book is high and the books that could be written using the information within it is even higher. The various types of ghouls and the examples are all truly compelling and have great potential for literary development. The abuse of the ghouls at the hands of the Sabbat, however, soils the part of the book it is written in. It misses out on a great opportunity to make more aggressive use of the ghouls as befits the Sabbat's aims. I cannot give this book a five star rating because, as with the Guide to the Sabbat, the ghouls are not cast in a fair light. In spite of this, Ghouls: Fatal Addiction is yet another impressive narrator's tool that I am very proud to own and ask anyone who wishes to write for Vampire to purchase so that his or her works of literature are well founded....

Guide to the Sabbat
par Paul H. D. B.
Editeur: White Wolf
Date Ajoutée: 06/17/2013 14:03:32
Guide to the Sabbat Vampire the Masquerade laid strong framework for the Sabbat and included the Code of Milan. This book further develops the Sabbat with great finesse and attention to detail. It is very complete and very intuitive. The ranks, rituals and philosophies of this sect of Vampire society are all expertly revealed. Any novice or professional writer would do well to purchase this guide. However, the section on the ghouls is rather gratuitous and not realistic in parts. As a whole the Sabbat wouldn't treat their ghouls as such lowly creatures. The sum of its parts would, as the fragments of any civilization would mistreat some of their people, but given the Ghoul's greater adaptability to daylight than vampires, it does not stand to reason that the Sabbat would abuse them. Their status as shock troops and menial servants is fully plausible and well expressed, but the disdain and arbitrary disposal for ghouls is too shortsighted a conception to be used in a narrative context. Without this mino...

Haunted House

Haunted House This looks like a neat game but it only comes as a Spanish language download. Nowhere in the description does it state there is not an English language version of the game and since the description was in both Spanish and English I assumed there would be a Spanish download and an English download (as Cartooner did with Italian and English). Why have the description in English if there is no English version of the game? I am hoping an English version will be added- it sounds like a game I would enjoy. So the one star rating is for the misleading description of the game, not the game itself....

Cultic Cryptomancia (Portrait) An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf is 14 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/SRD, 1 page introduction/how-to-use, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 11 pages of content, so let's take a look, shall we? Cultists, as the pdf goes on to discuss, need not be evil and may spring from oppressive governments and overtly restrictive dominant cultural streams. Of course, in fantasy gaming, cults tend to be even more problematic factor, often dabbling in the demonic and strange, being often associated with the things that hail from the Dark tapestry. As such, several of these rules tie in optionally with the neat madness rules from Legendary Games' excellent Tomes of Ancient Knowledge, which imho should by now grace the virtual shelves of DMs by now. If you opt against these madness rules, you can still adhere to the standard-rules for insanity - so either way you're covered! First, roles particularly likely to interact with cults like exorcist and infiltrator i...

Class Expansions: Illusion Sorcerer Bloodlines [PFRPG]

Class Expansions: Illusion Sorcerer Bloodlines [PFRPG] An Endzeitgeist.com review of the revised edition This installment of the Class Expansions-line is 5 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 3 pages of content, so let’s take a look at what we get, shall we? Illusions and sorcerers don’t mix well. That’s been the status-quo so far Want a crafty deceiver? Go wizard or witch. Which has always stricken me as odd, seeing as sorcerers with their cha-dependant casting would make for perfect con-men and due to the versatility of illusion-spells, they somewhat could offset their limited spell array. In here, we get 3 new bloodlines focused on Illusion-spells for subtle, charming sorcerers -so how do they hold up? First would be the Artist and taking one popular trope, the bloodline kicks off with a cool ability – scribe scroll, phantasm-spell-scrolls at 1/3rd price. I see you yawn. Don’t deny it. What’s cool is HOW this is explained/works – instead of writing a usual scroll, the Artist may create a drawin...

Tome of Spell and Sword An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf is 27 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 24 pages of content, so let's check this out! The pdf kicks off with a new base-class, the Dimensional Knight, who gets d8, 4+Int skills per level, 3/4 BAB-progression, good will-saves, proficiency with simple and martial weapons as well as light armors. Dimensional knights also cast arcane spells of up to 6th level and cast them spontaneously, but use intelligence as a casting attribute - a deviation from established cha/int-casting-style dichotomies you should be aware of. They also get arcane pool points equal to 1/2 class level + Int-mod that partially stacks with e.g. the magus-class. The dimensional knights may also move 5 ft. per class level as a swift action as if using dimensional door and as a touch attack that costs 1 arcane pool point to forcefully move targets the same distance. What's truly interesting about the class, though, would...

Lincoln, NM: Two Businesses I love the "real world" feel that Finger and Toe brings to the table (or gaming table, in this case) with this set. Finger and Toe's textures accent the easy to build models that we are used to seeing from them. Brilliant set that works well in Western or Modern day games. Great work.

High-Space: Euphoria What we have here is a nice little kick off point for a series of adventures. Basically, this starts right after the game masters says "Your characters are sitting in a bar on a space station, and can look around. What do you do?". Several storylines exist here, with plenty of opportunity for the players to explore and interact, as well as get into some trouble or save the day. I like it, having picked it up to assist me with a game in a different system. (I'll be honest, I don't have the core rules or familiarity with the system for which this is meant. But I will be looking into them.) Strengths - Well laid out and containing several potential plot lines for a decent gaming session or two. Plenty of interlocking, and plenty of hints dropped in place for the players. And included are maps and diagrams of very nice quality, far above the usual black and white drawings on graph paper. The art work is well done. Weaknesses - Little background on the setting. While some bi...

Cardstock Miniature Set #1 - Elven/Fairies
par David W.
Editeur: Lord Zsezse Works
Date Ajoutée: 06/17/2013 09:13:08
Cardstock Miniature Set #1 - Elven/Fairies This set offers some beautifully drawn elf/faeries and it offers the easy to use layers that we are used to seeing with Lord Zsezse's releases. Lots of color options and 10 different poses to choose from. The downside is all ten figures share the same options (as far as color and layers). If you wanted a uniform look (in case of an army or clan), then this is actually a great option. If you wanted to make each figure unique (as far as hair, clothing and "ball" options), then you will have to print out a whole page of each figure. The options create an almost limitless array of options, so if you can't find the color combination you are looking for here, then you don't need it. A great set of miniatures!...

World of Darkness: The God Machine Chronicle http://www.teilzeithelden.de -------------------------------
