Edge Role Playing Game

Editeur: Outrider Studios

Edge Role Playing Game Edge is an example of how a game should not be written. It is 170 pages long, of which 150 pages is a very poor attempt at flowery, exciting prose and 20 pages of useful information. The grammar and attempts at background are so bad, it's embarrassing to read. For example, the section on Celestial beings spends 3 paragraphs describing how cool they are but never says *what* they are. Humans? Ghostly apparitions? Hamsters? This is a player-character race, too. Things only get worse. There are no examples of roleplay and no guidance on roleplay. The author is assuming you will play it like any other rpg, so doesn't mention details like how a party is formed or that you can describe yourcharacter's actions. There are no social skills and no advice on creating the intrigue the game claims is so abundant in the world. All character abilities either cause damage or stop damage. I couldn't find any other kind of ability. Character generation is so badly organized, it is ha...

WIZARDS' WORLD (Original 1983) This game is just plain awesome! I can't find any fault with it. Thanks to Goblinoid Games for saving Wizard's World from possible obscurity and being lost to gaming history.

Alone into the Night This book is good for those who are playing with one gamer, which can happen from time time. We can't always have a group of four or five gamers show up at once everytime.

Villains and Vigilantes: Vigilantes International I found this book to be very informative. My only suggestion if another one is ever made is to have more characters from South America and Africa.

Heroes of the Jade Oath (PFRPG) The following review was originally posted at Roleplayers Chronicle and can be read in its entirety at http://roleplayerschronicle.com/?p=35342. Are you considering an Eastern Campaign? Well Heroes of the Jade Oath, is a supplement that allows players to expand on Eastern-style Pathfinder options already provided through products like Jade Regent, and Ultimate Combat. OVERALL Heroes of the Jade Oath, is a different look into the lifestyles of the Eastern lands. It is a nice change of pace from a lot of the current themes going on in the RPG community. It’s a good buy for those who are looking for something new to add to their Eastern Campaigns. RATINGS Publication Quality: 9 out of 10 Publication Layout: The layout of this adventure is clean and colorful. There is very little space wasted and the artwork is definitely of the best quality. This product is definitely built for print, and it shows! Ease of Mobility: What kills me about this product, is that it is 80MB i...

Mega Townscapes: Human Town It's average. I wish some designers here would produce some hand painted tiles. These tilesets with copy/pasted photo textures are getting kind of old. Not happy with spending $10 on these.

Sticks & Stones Prehistoric-ish Role-Playing Setting for Savage Worlds The GOOD: - Excellent, unique setting idea with a lot of fun elements and very creative writing. Sadly it stops there :( The BAD: - The art work is very amateur. - The layout, design, and formatting is even more amateur. - The water marks are intrusive on my printed copy, yet another amateur indication.

Tiles of the Dead : Games Room Way over priced for what you get. The tiles are very low resolution. The artwork is decent though. The hallways are completely plain though, almost useless. What should have been included are top down windows and doors in PSD layered format. As well as giving the tile options of grid and no grid. All in all I have to say I feel a bit ripped-off :(

A21: Snow White part 2 This adventure follows on directly from Snow White Part 1, and realistically could not be run in any other way. I suppose you could say that the characters have been called in as trouble-shooters owing to the adventurers previously hired as security having made such a mess of things, but it seems a little forced. In any case, if you like this reskinning of a classic fairy tale concept, you really, really want to run Part 1, so go do that then come back! It opens with a lot of detail on the Haunted Forest, into which the characters must venture. This is quite sandboxy, they can roam quite freely and there are several 'encounter locations' that they will come across. It's a chilly place, and there is some good advice about using the weather as an adversary, as well as some fine 'Achemist's Journal' notes about the flora and fauna of the place - unfortunately the wizard/alchemist who wrote them was assiduous about keeping the forest and its resources a secret so even if you do have nat...

Castles & Crusades Castle Keepers Guide

Castles & Crusades Castle Keepers Guide It is often said that Castles & Crusades is the Rosetta Stone of Old School Gaming. It certainly is that, but there is a lot more going on here than just that. Castles & Crusades is very much a stripped down version of the basic 3.x SRD. As such there are lot of concepts that are modern including a one-roll mechanic for all sorts of situations. Though if that were all then there would be nothing separating this from say True20 or other "lite" d20 iterations. Castles & Crusades plays like good old fashioned D&D. The aesthetic here is 1st Ed. AD&D, with the simplicity of Basic era D&D. The concept is noble and one we see in many of the retro-clones. But where the clones attempt to use the OGL to make an older version of the rules, Castles & Crusades makes it's own rules and instead goes for the feel or nature of the game. So while you will see Thieve's abilities represented by percentage rolls in Basic Fantasy or OSRIC and as a skill in 3.x in C&C it will be a Dexterity check. ...

Autorun -Generic Cyber-Hacking for D20 Modern Originally posted at: http://diehardgamefan.com/2013/05/20/tabletop-review-autorun-
-generic-cyber-hacking-for-d20-modern/ I have a confession to make: I don’t play enough cyberpunk games. Still, I am familiar with the whole issue of one player (the “decker” generally) entering the realm of cyberspace while the rest of the party does something else. Split the party, split the game master’s attention, make it easier to lose track of stuff. Got it, I see the problem. What Autorun is trying to do is to help solve or minimize the issues that this causes at the table, by essentially introducing a mini-game that the decker(s) can play while everyone else is doing their stuff they need to do. Plug In The introductory material for this sourcebook indicates that it can be used with systems like D20 Modern or Pathfinder (Pathfinder…?), but of course, it can be hacked to work with anything. The only real stats have to do with the various anti-hacker programs and decker equipment that use ...
