CHRONOS: Universal LARP System Core Rulesbook
by Helder D. D.

CHRONOS: Universal LARP System Core Rulesbook Hi guys! Just bought your Book and both decks PDFs (also ordered physical versions) and I see the potential of your system but... I'm somewhat disappointed with the rulebook (I'm reading the PDF while waiting for the decks and book). Couldn't get how the player get their Aether (draw one card at the beginning of the session?), nor how they get XP. What about character development? Do the players get to spend XP to buy new cards? Considering the expensive price (and although the cards look GREAT), I was hoping for a more polished and comprehensive book. I just feel that I'll have to buy supplements to see characters growing up, I'd like to see a more polished version of the core book in the future. I shouldn't HAVE TO buy a Skein to enjoy the game. It should be an optional thing. Being modular isn't the same thing as being incomplete, right?...

Game Masters Soundpack: Sci-Fi: Future Ads
by Peter C.
Publisher: Toxic Bag Productions, Inc.
Date Added: 08/01/2014 20:41:37
Game Masters Soundpack: Sci-Fi: Future Ads Something I've been after for a long time - Movies have ads running in the background all the time to evoke the setting and lend realism to the science fiction. This pack (in what I hope will be many) gives you a variety of scifi subgenre ads that can be used for spacestations, markets, malls an alpha complexes :) Collectible Coin Commercial - suitable for any subgenre set after 2400 AD Outer Planet Colony Ad - obviously inspired by Blade Runner and with a clean, broken billboard and dirigible version - would be great for any dystopian future or cyberpunk setting Planetary Defense Corps - general military recruitment propoganda, good for any subgenre Protean Protein - Slightly comedic. Better for Paranoia and Judge Dredd, but could be in more serious subgenres too. Razgun Recollection - Similar to the Coin Commercial about the Razgun war, a nice generic un-specified alien race type in general constellations. Somewhat Bladerunner-y Rocket Pod Race - Scifi version of car rally ...

GM's Miscellany: Dungeon Dressing
by Louis C.
Publisher: Raging Swan Press
Date Added: 08/01/2014 12:52:07
GM's Miscellany: Dungeon Dressing I've bought a few of the individual Dungeon Dressing pdfs from Raging Swan which have been grouped into this volume with some bonus material and have found them very useful. As a result I was very excited about this coming out and ordered a copy in hardback as soon as it was available. For those not familiar with the dungeon dressing series there are samples of the individual sections available as free downloads on the Raging Swan site. Each section (e.g. Doors, Walls, Altars, etc) contain various very usable tables with imaginative descriptions for parts of the dungeon. These are a lifesaver as a GM and are useful either for rolling randomly, looking for something suitable or even just getting inspiration. While it's designed with Pathfinder in mind 99% of the book will fit into almost any fantasy gaming system. At around 340 pages the hardback is a massive tome and it's solid black cover looks great up on the shelf with the Pathfinder rule books. The book starts with a number o...

Savage Insider, V2I1, Rebirth and Reinvention Having most of the older books, it was great to download the new issue. I enjoyed reading about how the game is growing and I can't wait to play the High Space adventure. Overall a good read, good production values and lots of inspiration and ideas for GMs. Looking forward to the next issue.

War Is Hell
by Megan R. [Featured Reviewer]

Date Added: 08/01/2014 11:10:54
War Is Hell The world of Contagion is not a pleasant one... and this supplement contains tools to help you make it even less so. All is not as that last sentence seems, however. Here are additional spells, rituals and other material that you might wish to add into your game - and some vicious combat moves that any sane individual would shy away from employing - how about yanking on the ears of those with the large pointy ones that adorn the heads of many of the more fantastical denizens, for example? We start off with a collection of feats. An interesting one allows the use of a familiar by spellcasters, another lets you enthrall an NPC by flashing a bit of leg or in some other way flirting with them (the effect being a bit like a charm person spell), and yet another covers the inscription of ritual circles. Then come the vicious combat moves, of which the less said the better, and some new rituals to research and perform. There are some new creatures as well, most of whom you don't want ...

Savage Insider, V2I1, Rebirth and Reinvention
by Jason B.
Publisher: Obatron Productions
Date Added: 08/01/2014 10:32:25
Savage Insider, V2I1, Rebirth and Reinvention As a long time Savage Worlds player and GM I've always had a special affinity for the Savage Insider. Until now, though, it's never been a publication that I've really considered a "must buy" (but I was all over the free issues). With the shift to Obatron I finally decided it was time to put a little money where my game was... and boy was it worth it! Appearance: Since my last free (ie, cheapskate) issue, V1I9, there is a noticeable change in layout. Between in-place art, backgrounds and watermarks there is color splashed all through the magazine. It gives the overall product a very polished look and made the visual experience a real joy, starting right there on the cover. Content: Linked Table of Contents!! In the age of tablet reading an active TOC is practically a must these days. Coming right after the gorgeous cover, this feature alone was enough to make me feel secure in converting over to a paying customer. But it didn't end there. With a State of the Savage from Clint B...

Delver's Digest - Of Mycorrhizae, Addled Mere & Deigma
by Megan R. [Featured Reviewer]
Publisher: Polycosm Publishing
Date Added: 08/01/2014 10:18:11
Delver's Digest - Of Mycorrhizae, Addled Mere & Deigma Are you looking for something truly weird yet oddly plausible to use as a location, background, environment for a game - be it fantasy (for this is fantastical) or perhaps in some distant science-fiction planet - then this is worth a look. A whimsical analysis of what is a real-world association of fungus and flowering plant - mycorrhiza - leads to speculation about forest-spanning webs of interaction, and presents a strange land to explore, the Addled Mere, repleat with strange wildlife and formations. Wilder speculations too. Some are almost incomprehensible, and could be used verbatim as the mutterings of a deranged sage - perhaps the characters can interpret what he's saying or they may too leave baffled and unknowing. Perhaps there's a place in your world for the magical analysis of patterns, or geometry that bends reality (and downright breaks the rules laid down by Euclid!). Or maybe this is better as speculation in the more extreme reaches of a magical university... but i...

Prestigeous Organizations: The Order of the Nullblades

Prestigeous Organizations: The Order of the Nullblades An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf clocks in at 14 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 12 pages of content, so let's take a look! So what are the Nullblades? Essentially, they can be considered an organization fiercely opposed to the MACS-suffering casters - megalomanical arcane caster syndrome that tends too infect just about every high-level spellcaster. You know the drill - the point where the friendly arch-wizard experiments a bit too much and makes the fabric of reality unravel, transforming the town of Bimberton into undead oreo-cookies. And this makes sense in-game to me - there would probably be an organization like this, annoying, harassing and potentially, eliminating spellcasters they deem an issue. The organization and its stance on members, relationships with other classes, buying potions (only from bards and alchemists!), the chance of there being a chapterhouse in a given settlement - 6 possible amenities to be found in a chapterhouse - all...

Mythic Monsters: Undead

Mythic Monsters: Undead An Endzeitgeist.com review This installment of Legendary Games' Mythic Monster series clocks in at 30 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 2 pages introduction to the product line, 1 page advertisement and 1 page back cover, leaving us with 22 pages of content, so let's take a look! We kick in with a short introduction by Jason Nelson before delving into expanded versions of mythic spells related to undead - whether its mythic animate dead, lesser, a new augment for the mythic ghostbane dirge or size changing via sculpt corpse's mythic version - the 10 additions are nice and provide even adventure hooks and ideas here and there! That's not what you're here for, though, right? So let's take a look at the undead: The mythic Baykok (CR 11 /MR 4) is the 7th version of the Baykok for a d20-based game I've seen, so it better live up to its dreadful reputation...and it does. Hail of arrows versus all targets within 110 feet? Yeah. Add pa...

Purple Duck Storeroom: Alternate Class Abilities

Purple Duck Storeroom: Alternate Class Abilities An Endzeitgeist.com review This pdf clocks in at 9 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/explanation, 2 pages of SRD, leaving us with 5 pages of content, so what are these alternate class abilities? Essentially, you could think of them as micro-archetypes - to learn one of them, you have to give up a class ability of a equal level when you level up or retrain. Bonus feats and divine auras do not qualify and spellcasting progression potentially counts as such an ability. In the end, the DM has the final say. Got that? Good! A total of 18 1st level abilities are provided and range from access to a mount (which works as a full-blown animal companion!) to poison use, throw anything as a bonus feat or gaining animal empathy. All those nice little abilities like trapfinding, familiars etc. are part of the deal, as is the unarmed AC bonus of the monk. At 2nd level, 5 are provided, with uncanny dodge, favored enemy and stand up some more powerful options coming...

Battle for Oz When I head about the kickstarter I was intrigued, I signed up quickly. I am collector of Savage Worlds Settings, I have almost all of them, most I suspect I will never get around to playing, but this has gone to my will play list. This is a first class product, the concept is well executed, the layout of the book is clear and concise, I am already "stealing" their rules for increasing extra damage die and the henchman and lieutenants rules. The PDF while excellent somehow does not convey how gorgeous the actual print product is, this is one of the best RPG books I have own....

Inverse World - A Dungeon World Supplement
by Eltup E.
Publisher: Jacob Randolph
Date Added: 08/01/2014 04:51:40
Inverse World - A Dungeon World Supplement Almost every page of the book has something useful at the table, which is my standard for these things. I appreciate the non-specificity of the setting because the book itself gives you the tools to make it specific to your table. The playbooks themselves are of a very high standard, though I've only run one session of the game, I have no complaints about their design. Docking a star for two reasons: there's not much advice for developing inverse world specific fronts and I wish the island creation worked better with the steading rules in Dungeon World....
