13th Age Bestiary

13th Age Bestiary http://www.teilzeithelden.de/2014/12/27/rezension-13th-age-k-
13th Age brachte sicherlich Einiges an Abwechslung gegenüber anderen d20-Systemen. Ein Escalati...

D6xD6 RPG Core Book
by Hamilton R.
Publisher: Popcorn Press
Date Added: 12/28/2014 05:02:53
D6xD6 RPG Core Book D6xD6 RPG Core Book is a hot mess. Layout -- The rules for playing do not jump out at you, nor do they inspire you to play the game. The artwork is a hodge-podge jumbled pile of incoherent Photo-shopped photograph bits. (Some people think that they can put tomatoes, cheese, bread, and pepperoni into a blender and mix it into a pizza -- this is what D6xD6 seems to be like as far as the Layout is concerned.) Is this supposed to be a Universal system, or do you stick with Cthulu themes? I am confused when I look at this book, and confusion is bad in graphic design. Text -- Text is satisfactory. Fonts are uninspired, bland. It does the job, I guess. There is no clear explanation of how Focus works: it almost seems that the less Focus you have, the better you are to accomplish tasks. I may have this wrong, but like I said: this work is confusing. I want to play games - not reinvent the wheel and muddle through uninteresting text and confusion to learn a new system. Game Play -- N...

Modernity (Fate Edition)
by andrew b.

Modernity (Fate Edition) I bought this product for the original $19.99 price tag. It was kind of steep, but it seemed to have a lot of what I wanted and seemed to have a very slick, professional presentation. Which were all good reasons to purchase this product. Now this is a solid product. It has a definite Wizards of the Coast quality. It expands the Fate Core rules a bit. It is loaded with a wonderfully almost World of Darkness-esque quality. This is a very interesting mix. Now for the negative, which will explain why I ranked this only a 3 of 5. If you own Fate Core, if this product interests you you probably have it, this book is a very large republishing of the Fate Core rules. Now for $20, this means half of the price I paid was for rules I already have with a few terms refurbished. Now for $10, others posting behind me can just assume they got that half for free and the price they paid covered exclusively the new material. So the very next post may be at least a dot higher, but for me... ...

The Grinding Gear Bought this module at the last minute when my regular gaming group had a couple of people drop out. We played using Labyrinth Lord AEC and some pre-generated characters I had saved for just such an occasion. Great module for a single session (maybe two) but not necessarily for a novice GM. Would definitely consider buying more from this author/publisher.

Mekton Zeta

Publisher: R. Talsorian Games Inc.
Date Added: 12/27/2014 15:39:20
Mekton Zeta I give it 3 stars, because the system is simple, so everyone could play without problems, the ambience is detail in every aspect even they take care about fuel and size of mechas and spaceship and pilots habilities. if you love series about mechas such as gundam, patlabor, etc. and you want to create your own universe about them, this is perfect. Although the system and the details are perfect; the pdf is not so great, the scan pages have some white lines, also you can see the page of the other side, and there is no bookmarks that could help you to find quickly some tables or information. I hope they'll fix these little problems, even if they are making a new version. However is worth to buy it....

Emergence Roleplaying Game: Core Rulebook
by Philip H.
Publisher: 3mergent Games
Date Added: 12/27/2014 14:22:25
Emergence Roleplaying Game: Core Rulebook I bought the hard copy and PDF. The game concept is good. It is a sensible mix of fantasy and technology, akin to shadowrun meets star gate. The rules are too complex for my tastes with multiple stats and sub stats. Combat takes a really long time to resolve. The art is great but frequently reused. The 3d6 mechanic is great for combat but there is no direct translation of critcals to the skill system. I like the damage track and fixed weapon damages. The character generation system is very indepth. I like racial traits and backgrounds. The PDF is good value but I will probably only use it for the ideas and use something simpler like D100 as the system. The print hard copy is poor quality with washed out art, low cost binding that won't last and pages edges lost in the binding. If you like complex systems with endless character choices and sub stats then this is for you. Avoid POD....

The Translation Codex
by Emily T.
Publisher: Ryan Chaddock Games
Date Added: 12/27/2014 09:37:32
The Translation Codex I am enjoying "The Translation Codex" The core works of the The Strange were lacking in Foci and this helps fill the void. In addition you get a number of new recursions to pair the foci up with. It lacks a little in the artwork department, definitely not up to Monty CooK standards. But, it packs the pages full of useful and inspiring words to make up for it. If you play The Strange, you want this book.

The Location Crafter
by Matthew T.
Publisher: Word Mill
Date Added: 12/27/2014 00:20:13
The Location Crafter I love the Location Crafter.I can use this to detail setting or I can keep drilling down adding layers of detail as needed. Even better though. is that I can use the Location Crafter to randomly generate a setting, on the fly, when playing solo and add as much or as little detail as needed. No matter how you play or what you play, you'll certainly find this book a valuable in your role playing toolkit.

Spiritual Warfare the RPG 4th Edition
by Chet C.
Publisher: Golgotha Games
Date Added: 12/26/2014 23:43:48
Spiritual Warfare the RPG 4th Edition Considerably stronger, better than the previous editions. Folks involved in its creation are still rather anti-Catholic and anti-Latter-day Saints, but their design still works, and it's not hard to adapt. The one thing that it seems everyone else hates and I love is the magic system, which requires scripture quoting. Ideally, the GM could and should require the quotes be contextual and give a much greater success rate (perhaps critical successes) if quoted from memory alone. It's a system and background that begs for tweaks. The creators might disagree with me, but I'd recommend buying this and tinkering madly with it. Especially the western campaign setting!...
